Crank Walk on a Cupra 290 Manual?

Hi,

I just started reading up on crank walk on the EA888 with an aftermarket clutch. I'm deciding between a DSG or manual Cupra ST. I have read that some people are affected by crank walk when changing to an aftermarket clutch. Could crank walk happen on all 888 engines (Cupra, golf R) or "only" GTI (220-230hk 888)?
Is the risk the same for GTI vs Cupra engine?

A very quick look at some Golf engine codes you can see there are 3x versions (suffix) of crank thrust bearings with N seeming to be the latest, and F superseding to N.
H seemed the odd on out!
If you google these part numbers I think there is some 'slight' variation in the ground oil groove which 'may' effect oil film and crank thrust support?

For any engine - if you fit a stronger clutch cover - when you depress the clutch you are exerting more force back into the crank and through the thrust bearings and oil film, probably made worse by cold starts & having to put your foot on the clutch to start the engine - so the first few engine rotations will be low oil pressure.

Thanks, very interesting. So the Cupra use the same thrust bearings as the GTI and early R. Those are "often" failing from what I have seen?

No, the Cupra engine codes I checked have N suffix the same as the later GTI & R.
Must be the H and F versions that have this issue then. I want a manual but I will use it as my daily and my wife will drive it (she can drive a manual). Difficult choice.

Jason from Chicago auto pros on YouTube had crank walk on his GTi, he had an uprated clutch and flywheel and a tune.
His videos explained a fair bit.
