i know it won't make you feel any better but been googling to see if anyone else suffered your plight and came across this comment from royal mail health and safety interview :

The organisation said that while 20,000 road traffic accidents a year sounded a lot, its 40,000 vehicles covered more than 1.6 million miles a day and that many of the incidents were bumps and scrapes which often occurred in Royal Mail car parks rather than on the road. Its drivers are currently receiving extra tuition to improve their skills.

you'd think they would be more organised and well practised by now surely ?

sounds ya like not getting anywhere at the moment (backwards if anything) have ya thought about calling your insurance company and letting them sort it out ?

I knew it wasn't your fault but sometimes you claim through your insurer and they recover the cost from the other side. blink: don't give up though! they probably make it difficult to make you think "ahh well, stuff it, I can't be bothered" and then they don't have to shell out.

yes i understand about my insurance company helping but surely that will put my premium up...

and also the company that is dealing with it should be doing it to benifit me, as royal mail has admitted liability..

so surely any fees that have occoured over this period to do with the car should be paid for by them seeing as they were at fault..obviuosly i wouldnt of had my car towed to a bodyshop for no reason....

what gets me is that it was them that arranged the collection of the vehicle and hire car? so how would i even know where the bodyshop was?

as you can probably tell im somewhat sick of this and its beginning to stress me out...ive seemed to be losing out on everything due to someone else's mistake...

i dont really know of what rights i have so probably would benifit from getting my insurance company involved but then yet again it back fires on me..as it would bump my premium up...

Sounds like there'd be no contest for it being a non-fault accident, so won't affect your NCB as full costs will be recovered from other side (including excess) and shouldn't affect your premium

and also the company that is dealing with it should be doing it to benifit me, as royal mail has admitted liability..

They're paid by Royal Mail so are looking after Royal Mail's interests - your insurance company will look after your interests, so will have lots more legal jargon they can throw at RM's insurers :)

Yep, as I understand it they should bear all costs that you incur as a result of the accident

right then, so i should contact my insurance company then?

i am sick of the whole situation now really as its affecting me mentally.. and tbh id just rather have my car back and the cheque. most important thing is to get the car back as the scuffs was only minor and could be sorted out easily.

I'd recommend it, or possibly someone like Accident Exchange - they specialise in non-fault accident claims - from their site

# Following an accident for which you were not to blame, you are entitled to be put back into the position that you were at immediately before the accident occurred. This means that you have the right to replacement transport, the right to have your vehicle repaired to its pre-accident condition, the right to claim compensation for any loss in the value of your vehicle arising from the accident damage and the right to make a claim for personal injury to recompense you for pain and suffering arising from any personal injury sustained by you. We can advise and assist you with all of these losses.

You should bear in mind that, in bringing any claim for compensation, you are under a common law duty to mitigate which means that you are expected to keep resultant losses and expenses to a reasonable amount. That act of mitigation does not mean you have to suffer or make do.

# Finally, wherever possible, you should retain receipts for items of expenditure that you incur and for which you might wish to reclaim from the negligent driver. If you wish to claim for incidental expenses - telephone calls made and letters sent, for example - then you need to keep a record of these events.

kev is right... contact accident exchange. i could not be any happier with the service they supplied me earlier this year. top notch company, gave me a top notch hire car, got all the money for EVERYTHING from the other guys insurance company with no fuss.

if it was possible i would hug the people who dealt with my claim as they had to battle with the other guy and his insurance whilst he denied responsability for the accident. i provided them with all the information i could inc pics etc and they sorted it out.

THANKS Accident Exchange :D

^^
as you can tell im one happy customer

when i say stressed out with it all i mean royal mail in general, im currently going through a naughty boy process which is being dragged out because my union has stepped in, getting told off for something that was ok'd with another manager! lol...and then this with the car,, dont make me like royal mail very much, even more so when they dont pay you ur overtime but still have the nerve to ring and wake you up on your day off asking you to work!

and the d day thing is when apparently they are coming to collect the hire car without bringing my car back...they will have a hard job to get hold of me

EDIT

IVE BEEN TOLD MANY A TIME THAT MY MIDDLE NAME IS _ _ _ _ YOU KNOW THE ONE, SAME AS A LADIES PLAY THING....

I WILL HAVE MY VENGEANCE IN THIS LIFE OR THE NEXT ;)

There is some dodgy stuff going on

well another update..

after making numerous amounts of calls and alot of arguing ive finially got my car home and parked up outside, minus any work done..

i eventually got them to understand that there is no way i was paying for the cost of it being stored in the garage and for recovery to and from me (280 miles)....the finally bill for that was £420!

i was then speaking to the chap that delivered it about the whole situation and he said to much... apparently a huge bill was put in due to it being royal mail and an un named man was claiming another 2% of the overall cost :banned:

the bill and damage reported didnt tally up to the engineers evaluation to the car, thats why it all come to a stop! so they were trying to screw me over aswell as royal mail...

but wait, thats not all..

as the royal mail would not pay out they had wrote the car off... and someone at the bodyshop believed he was going to buy the car for scrap value of £125..so they thought i was going to accept the cheque for £1025 without my car....they were incorrect.... he had purchased a bumper and was going to do the work himself..

what on earth is going on here? they whole thing smells as fishy as captain birdseye

not sure what should be done here?

i just need to make sure i get my money for the damage [:@]
