stupid question, but you're sure the filter itself is done up nice and tight? And its not the rubber seal which is leaking?

hope you get it sorted soon anyway mate

naah aint the filter, it seems there is a split in the gasket or the block where the housing for the oil filtre mounts to the block. . . . i really cant believe all the shitty luck i have with this car, i really do hate it now and nothing about it makes me smile, ive spnt so much money on it and its barely worth **** all

sucks matey, i know how you feel, i threw £4000 into the Cordy before i sent it on. It seems to be enjoying life with its new owner as its only used as a toy occasionally.

Given their age and their nature i don't think they make a suitable everyday car anymore.

well im on the road believe that its frickine crap...it seems that the replacement gaskets which arnt genuine have a tendency to split, t4 vans have the same problem, and i know that it was just a pattern gasket that was used...so keep that in mind...well actually saying all this, i hope it is that, what a fu**ing pain in the ass it has been to do, waiting on a gasket now

well i sourced a few original gaskets such as the rocer cover as the pattern ones which were supplied are piss poor, the one i ordered today was £2.60 iirc.. which is nothing but paying a garage 4-5 hours labour to do the job aint funny. lucky i dont have too but thats what sort of time has been spent on it.

mine wasnt inside the oil filter hosing, it was the shitty wrong gasket that was used to attach the housing to the block..its back together now but dont seem right, the dial with oil temp and what not just keep changing the readings drastically, from 63 oil temp to 90 odd and back

aye? dont follow? sorry? the sender unit?

ye hows it send a signal to the gauge

if it's wired to it wont be airlock more likely a dicky sensor - try earthing the signal to see if gauge operates in correct fashion

if it's connected to the gauge direct by hose/pipe/tube then it could be air in the line causing the drops might need letting off a bit

my best guess is it's #1

naah still aint working correctly, started the car first thing this morning and after 3 mins of running the temp said it was 64 again, theres no way the oil got that warm that quick... what do you rekon, pull off conecters and clean up terminals?
