Sorry to ask this, but how do you use the cruise control ? I cant work out how to activate it. I would read the manual but it was missing when i picked the car up yesterday so the dealer has ordered me one. But im doing a long trip tommorrow so would like to know how to use it.

flick it to on, then once at the required speed click the set button on the left stalk and there ya go

Erm... By memory this could be difficult. It took me a while to figure it on on my long drive back from the dealer, got there in the end though lol.

On the top of the stalk you need the slide switch over to the left (in the on/active position).

Then on the end of the stalk the rocker type switch can be pressed to the top or to the bottom..... I think (but this could be the wrong way round) 1) when driving at your desired speed you press the rocker to the top, this will activate the cruise control at the speed you are currently driving. You can then hold the rocker to the top to increase speed or to the bottom to decrease. 2) If you initially press the rocker switch to the bottom this activates the cruise control to the last set speed, when reached you can then press the rocker switch up/down to accelerate/decelerate.

To de activate, other than using the clutch/brakes the slide switch on the top of the stalk can be flicked to the right and then returned to its normal 'active' position (its sprung).

How this helps.

Thats how I use mine. Its only really usefull on Motorways or A roads with no traffic lights, e.t.c, or if you dont want to get caught speeding where theres average speed cameras :ban:

I find it removes the temptation to 'give it the beans' or speed up as your foot isnt on the accelerator lol.... I do however find it reduces mpg!

Enjoy your drive Snowsurfer.

Spot on Scott - very detailed, except 'set' is on the bottom press, and 'resume' is on the top press, sorry to correct you - no offence intended, but if Snowsurfer presses the top first, nothing happens:blink:

Kind regards,

Ian

I’m glad you did mate, if the person before him had it set at 90 he would have been in for a bit of a surprise lol

Cheers

Apologies for the second reply - I haven’t figured out how to so multiple quotes yet :ban:

I managed the first 50mins of a 1hr 30 drive with the cruise control set at 80, I was quite proud of myself.... the temptation then overcame me lol.

57' Cupra. Loving it already, very different from the 2000 1.6 ls astra i traded in haha

Drinks the fuel a bit quicker too :)

Nice upgrade!!!! I've got a TDI FR and I think its brill.

When/if you get chance take it for a spin on some country roads, I'm sure you will have a grin from ear to ear. Must remember to drive responsibly though ;)

I nearly went for the FR but managed to push them down a bit more on the cupra so decided to jump in feet first :) Plus my misses fell in love with the cupra seats. She didnt find it very funny though when i said "Well ill save some money then and just buy better seats for the Astra"

I use cruise control for the full journey when on the motorway - don't know how I'd live without it now, lol! :)
