Hi i have 2010 leon cupra 2.0tfsi. Standard car. Its had a cam belt change and cam chain and tensioner done about 1500 miles ago. Car is on 100k now.. i have an intermittent ticking/tapping noise from cold start or when warm! I could go a week with out hearing it. It done it before i had chain done. Last weekend i had oil pick up and sump cleaned. Hardly any crap in there.. now im stumped.

What about the fuel pump??you think its on its way??it sound like a tappet noise can be quite loud.. sometimes its happend on startup and has dissapeard by the time i get to end of my street.. its a strange and annoying one?

Is it only at idle when the revs are really low? And if so, does it stop if you add 100ish revs on?

Injectors on the tfsi engines are really noisy and make a loud tappy sound. I almost took mine into the garage because one day they became really noisy. If the idle drops down to 700ish I can hear them inside the cabin.

Yea i know but this sound would be there for two days for example and i wouldnt hear it for a while.. it dont sound right to me.. i was told it was chain see and changed it and still the same. Sounds like an old ford fiesta lol

Hmm, can you record the noise and upload it to youtube so we can have a listen? They are really noisy engines though, mine sounds like my old diesel mondeo LOL.

Okay ill try to record it.. its like a tappet noise. They are noisy engines i agree.. im thiniing would it be a sign that an injectir is on its way.?? Like a really noisy injector

Not to fill you with confidence. LOL. But what I was told is that because they are "big" injectors. They perform badly at low revs. Like a turbo can't cover the entire rev range. The injectors are meant to throw in a shed load of fuel at high rpms. I've had idle misfires since I bought the car. Took it to a "reliable" tuning place and they told me so long as it doesn't misfire under high load not to worry.
