Only just got the car and i love it[B)]but their are a couple of things i was thinking of getting checked?
1) When its just ticking over the car can just rock slightly almost like its running lumpy even though it ticks over spot on and does not fluctuate at all:confused:

2)There is a kind of humming noise when just sat in the car ticking over which gets slightly quieter when you say turn on the rear windscreen heater.

Any ideas? thanks.

Is that from a cold start?

Not 100% as the missus has been using it the last few days for work but i did take it out when she got back tonight and when i got back i just sat in it idling and it was doing it then even thought it was warmed up.

mine does that sitting there and it idles just under 1. doesnt seem to be straining or anything.
every now and again it feels like it stutters then its fine. but its only when standing still just jump or miss fire runs perfect.
when its sitting there it does droan abit but i guess its just cause of the exhaust.
where does your rev counter sit on idling. all my other cars have sat at least 1.

The 225 engine adjusts the revs at idle (esp. cold start) and so u get a strange judder every few seconds as the revs change a very small amount.

For anyone who wants to test, start the car and shut off climate and radio then listen very carefully and watch the tacho and you'll see the small fluctuation. This isn't a problem though.

Yeah mine does that when idling, judders every now and then. I took it back to Seat and they said this is normal but still checked the car over and said everything is fine.

£40 that is a con but like you said, you can now give your mind some peace. I got mine done for free.....it was the 3rd day after i brought the car from them.

Is this purely an LCR phenomenom then ? I can't say I've ever noticed my LC juddering while idleing.

1k seems pretty high for idle in a car. I've never seen a car idle over 900 rpm, (going by the clocks that is), when fully warm. My LC seems to idle at just over 800 rpm, I would expect the LCR to be about the same as the engines aren't that different.

All cars engine speeds fluctuate slightly on idle. All modern cars have systems that are continually monitoring engine speed and fueling and continually making adjustments. But even the most sophisticated systems with the most well designed fueling systems can't get a perfect bang in the engine every single time, so there is always some wobble to the idle speed. In fact the rev counter smooths out a lot of the variation so you never see it. If you attach a tester to the ignition system and view the actual revs directly you will probably be surprised to see how much they move around.

The rough idling (warm) is normal for a standard LCR. Get it remapped and the rough idle goes away. Has something to do with the engine management set up for different climates and wherever they are sold, europe, america.....
