any help much appreciated, my cupra 280 has sprung a leak, every couple of days a little puddle on the drive, but not on the left/front, not by the thermostat housing or water pump (I’m no expert) but a little puddle is on the right hand side of the engine on top of the gearbox, It looks as though it’s just under the second water pump the smaller one, any one else had issues in that area ?

Thanks

Last few days i would hazard a guess its the AC condensing and dripping off. My new Cupra does this, worrying when you first spot it! roughly right hand side, just in line with the rear of the front right tire?

If in doubt, lick the puddle..... :bleh:

Levels usually bang inbetween high/low but I’ve been topping up to the high marker each time

If you don't top it up (but keep an eye on it)... see if you get the puddle / drop in level. Not to say that there isn't an issue. But that's not the coolant level. The tank is an expansion tank where the coolant goes when it expands and won't fit in the engine anymore.

Thanks mate i’ll Try that an see what happens, just seems an odd place not heard of any leaks around there before

It sounds like your thermostat housing or waterpump leaking.
Look down the front of the block under the inlet manifold

I’ve managed to get my phone In and get a picture it looks like the second coolant pump is the culprit

Phones are the new go to diagnosis tool. I managed to order all the parts for our Arona after another car tried to mate with it. I just stuck the phone inside the bumper and clicked away.

I’ve left it alone since Tuesday no top ups ect it’s hovering around the midway mark on the expansion tank and no further fluid loss, hopefully it’s all good, i’ll Keep an eye on it though

Fingers crossed. My MK2 refuses to be topped past the top edge of the triangle. Any time I do, within a week it's gone. But I can't remember the last time I topped it up after leaving it there. On the bright side, there is a coolant level sensor, so you'd know before it was critically low.

Update turns out it was a split hose, split from the inside? Obv at temp and pressure hole was opening up spitting coolant everywhere

Glad you found it. Wow, I had to zoom to even see that. Funny how such a small thing can be such a pain.
