Local dealer where I bought my car gave me the massive hump today. I popped in there to get them to have a look at the fault. They told me that it'd be a week before they could book it in, which I thought was fair enough, but then they told me that I needed to drop the car off at 08:30 and that they would have it for the entire day! When I pointed out that they'd only be plugging it into the diagnostic unit to read some fault codes and that this couldn't possibly take all day to do I was told it was company policy and that they didn't book peoples' cars in by appointment slots. So why do I have to be there at half eight then?!

I told them I'd try somewhere else and walked out...

Must be the day for dealers giving customers the hump, my 184 went in today. They confirmed the gearbox failure warning fault requires a new selector so put one on order, that is all they got right, rattles not sorted and a couple of other jobs not done, then they had the cheek to say I would need to speak to Seat to get the door rattles sorted. Spoke to Seat and got a case number mentioned that since dealer had looked at it didn't appear to be changing gear properly and are they going to take responsibility if it goes bang, surprisingly the said yes, p****d off is an understatement :censored:[:@]

I've made a complaint to SEAT CS about it and requested they direct me to another dealership that doesn't take a whole day to plug in a connector and look at a screen!

Even though its a known issue they still need to diagnose it so most dealers will make you come in to diagnose and then make you come back in to fit

It was the same issue. Resolved and on way to pick the car back up.

Scott

Scott can you try get an issue number or find out what needs to be done.

Need to get mine done, but i need to remove a few things from mine before it goes in :cartman:

I'm not daft. I don't mind if it takes all day to fix, but it doesn't take all day to diagnose a widely known fault, does it?

Anyway, looks like I've got zero options, as SUK lived up to their acronym and took the dealer's side. Wish I'd bought a Golf even more now!

I've rifled through dozens of pages on Briskoda (Octavia III), Audi Sport (A3 8V) and the R Forum (Golf VII) and found no mention of DSG selectors going wrong, which leads me to believe the SEAT version is the bad apple in the barrel.
