Thanks for that, Scott. Perhaps if I quote that they might get the parts in beforehand, rather than me be without the car for 2 days. I won't hold my breath hoping, though!

Technology, eh? ;-) At least I won't be getting this particular issue, what with opting for the old fashioned DIY gearbox. Sounds like people aren't getting too much grief getting it sorted though.

:) hope it's sorted easily, doesn't stop the car working so far, at least...

Mine hasn't been sorted. I'm still refusing to give up my car for an entire day just to have the fault diagnosed!

I had a discussion around that, said just read the codes and get the parts in, but they want all day which fine by me as it needs to be checked out, they are providing a Mii :)

Check the new gear selector has been fitted properly after the recall. I noticed with mine it was very hesitant to release the key from the ignition when in P . The Park brake has also failed on mine since the recall which the dealer ( Arnold Clark ) have attributed to an issue with the new selector fitting and have now sorted. All gearbox issues seem to been sorted but the Stop/Start is now permanently deactivated which I assume the dealer must have set using VCDS when working on the car and not reactivated....arghhhhhhh .

Sadly Arnold Clark in Newcastle are convenient for me as I work on the business park on Scotswood Road. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt as it was SEAT's **** up in the first place.

Meanwhile, my saga continues...

I can't even be bothered to write about it, but let's just say I'm totally :censored: off with it all now. SUK - useless, dealer - less than useless!

Anyone have any tips for extracting oneself from a 3 month old PCP?

Not sure about the PCP angle as its not a method I'd use to buy a car. However, what's to stop you trading the cupra in against a Golf R or S3 as it sounds to me that's what would have suited you better in the first place? Only pointing this out as it seems from your posts you aren't entirely happy with FWD traction on the cupra. I'm sure a dealer could sort out the finance situation. Pretty safe bet you will take a hit in the wallet though.

It's not the traction I'm unhappy with, it's the poor quality of the car, the total uselessness of the dealer I bought it from and the ineffectiveness of SUK to sort anything out. This is the first time I've had a new car and I hoped it would be a pleasurable experience, but spending hours and hours trying to sort out this one issue is bringing me to the end of my tether with regards to SEAT ownership.

When I first went into the dealer to arrange a test drive the demo car was broken and then the saleman never bothered to let me know when it was fixed so we could arrange a test drive. I wish I'd heeded those early warning signs and never went back. Bad car, bad dealer...

F:censored:k me!!!! Anyone on here with a 280 Cupra DSG not had this problem????

Definitely not the thread I wanted to find having ordered mine last week. It's a SEAT UK stock car so likely to have been built June time.

Is this really just "a matter of time" until it happens?

Simonali - why is dropping a car off for a day such an issue?? Is it because you just want rid and don't want it fixed??

It's not a big deal, at least on mine it flagged a warning, turn ignition off and on alert goes, phone dealer, book in, drop off car, pick up loaner, dealer fixes, drop of loaner, pick up Cupra, bit of a faff but far worse things going on in the world and this issue is easily fixed ;-)

Indeed. Nothing actually wrong with the gearbox itself, just a sensor. Could leave it if you wanted to and deal with the random warning from time to time.

Painless job to get done, at least was for me.

Scott

Not had any problems with mine yet, 1550 miles 3 months had, and built on the 3rd June, run in as handbook, used no oil.:D

Mine definitely does have problems. Ususally in S mode, the gearbox doesn't change up or simply doesn't engage the clutch so the engine just bounces off the limiter with the car not accelerating. I'm still refusing to have anything to do with the dealership that wants it for a whole day just for diagnostics, so I'll just drive it in D or M and wait for it to fail completely!
