Hi all,

I’ve just bought a 2019 Cupra 290 DSG and wondering if there are any good/simple OEM+ mods?

I’m not one to love stupidly loud cars, but something small that would make the car sound a little better would be fine. Ideally something that wouldn’t get picked up during a service/MOT.

Cheers!

res delete, probably cheapest & most effective way of getting better sound without going over the top loud. Removed them in Cupra 280

What sort of price am I looking at for fitting? I know VAGsport have one for the 290. Does the 2019 model come with GPF?

I used a local exhaust garage. If I recall right it was £80 for res delete, but the cupra 280 has 2 resonators, so he changed me £140 I think.

Cheers! Do you have to declare a rest delete on the insurance? If did it cost you much?

I thought that the 2019 Leon Cupra 290 exhaust was quite noisy already, I can certainly heard my daughter driving into our estate well before the car is in our driveway.
I have a 2011 Audi S4 and I bought it at just over 2 years old, it came with a Milltek exhaust, described in the Audi advert as an Audi Sports exhaust! Many Audi S4 at least, owners did change their exhausts simply because with the factory exhaust fitted, you can't hear the V6 running - from listening to and been driven in my daughter's 2019 Leon Cupra 290, that is not the case, the exhaust noise is heard well enough, I don't know what it is like on a long run though.

Thanks yeah I know but doesn’t answer my question lol. do I have to declare on insurance for a res delete? I already know they make the GPF model
Sound better.
You do need to declare as an exhaust mod, however with Admiral at least it doesn't add anything to the premium. I've read the same for others too 👍

Can confirm Admiral are quite lenient with modifications. I've declared all mine and the only one that increases the premium is vinyl on the roof/bumper. Exhaust, sound system, remap, filter all with no increase.

What's £50 extra a year to losing a 20k car due to invalidated insurance?

I'm sure that when I revealed that my car (2011 Audi S4) had been fitted with a Milltek exhaust, they added quite a bit to the original premium offered, and it is noted in my policy, maybe they changed the way they did things from back in 2013, if so I could quiz them about that at renewal time - that exhaust is just a standard SS complete with resonators.
