Hi guys and girls i was wondering what are your thoughts on the traction side on the cupra 300
i struggled with putting down 300 bhp so i did the front tyre change to P4S tyres and the dog bone change
much much better very little wheel hop and axle tramp then introduce it to a stage 1 remap 360 bhp/384ft torque very nice now its spinning the tyres at 5500rpm traction light comes on power cut as per traction control
tried switching off traction control to put power down not great results do we need 4 wheel drive? when getting to these figures on stage 1 etc any thought would be great and would a dsg remap be any useful...

kind regards
GHB

It's all part of the... fun... of owning a front wheel drive car.

Changing the tyres and mount, which you have done are the best way to improve traction, apart from that, you'll have to learn to feather the throttle.

@theoldboy you must be in the same boat?

With 245/35 PS4S tyres up front and 034motorsport dogbone insert, Im able to use full throttle in 2nd gear with very little wheel-spin (in the dry of course!) I have to have the traction control off though otherwise it just cuts in. I’m running APR stage 2 with APR DSG software

got the dog bone insert fitted PS4S but no DSG sofware yet do you think this may help?

I Have had the DSG and also Engine mounts done to help and I also changed the suspension.
I had a lot more flashing lights when i had stage 1 only.

Bottom line these are not 0 - 60 motors and you learn how and when you can use full power.

I have also removed the torque control and updated the LSD settings which for where i use the car makes a big difference.

Sorry I should say the suspension changes were made simply for road handling so that I can lower the car with the Coilover but still have the different modes and in comfort mode (and cupra as well as it happens) I don't feel like I am using coilover's.

Get an OBDII or Carista or similar and switch off the torque limiter. The judder is the torque limiter & traction control making the brakes kick in more so than axle tramp once you've got the dog bone & tyres sorted. It makes a world of a difference deactivating the limiter.

@Cupra Belfast i agree re torque limiter, funny thing though the latest batch of Golf MK7's no longer have the ability to do this based on what I am seeing on the forums.

Try the traction control attached to your right leg and/or use a higher gear. These things spin up, it's the nature of the beast.
I have noticed that the Cupra gets it's power down on one tricky intersection I use daily better than the GT86. That just flicks sideways as soon as you think about nailing it, the Cupra still needs a lot of circumspection though.

coding done but not tested yet. Interestingly adaptation didn't allow me to set to deactivate first. Had to set to normal then to deactivate using obd11. Do you also run with ASR off as I think these nanny features will negate disabling of the torque converter. I might code these out as reading Golf forums there seems little benefit in doing one without the other

No I don't use the button or the coding to turn off ASR, What other functions do you think are included in ASR (as a lot of the nany stuff is also in the ESP service and possibly general coding.

From my understanding what this code does is just turn off the brakes from stopping wheels spinning when you floor it, not sure the other stuff will impact that process but happy to be educated better.
