OK, having a wee squint on SEAT used cars and my understanding was (is) that Cupra is top-o-the-range and FR is next in line.

However,

a) Do you get a TDi Cupra? as theres quite a few on SEAT.co.uk, and
b) Is the FR top-o-the-range in the diesels as they are more expensive, look nicer, have better alloys and seem to have wee chin spoiler and chromed Mirrors.

From this it looks like FR TD's are better than Cupra TDi's which seems at odds with what I know.

Can anyone shed some light on this.

Ta!

:)

Ibiza or Leon?

with Leon's I think I'm right in saying:-

Cupra R = Top of the range (Petrol only)
Cupra = FR (SEAT changed the name about a year ago) (petrol and diesel)
FR+ = FR with Cupra R styling (last few FR's only)

Leon !!!!!!!!

What about Cupra TDi's, are they real or just dealers advertising them as something more than they are to get sales.

I'm guessing that the ones I've seen, as they have 17" Cupra R style alloys, must be the FR+ cars.

:)

I don't know much about diesel's, but I believe for a 'sooty' it's pretty good. Just go and test drive one and decide for your self.

Its more a case of clearing up my confusion. I have two diesels at the mo, Audi 80 and Fabia vRS, but want something Golf sized (had the R32) but with a nice diesel engine but not a Golf.

Plus theres none at my local dealers, so I can't go check them out!!

:)

Yes mate there were Cupra TDI but SEAT changed Cupra to FR around about Spring 2004, so you will find Cupra TDI's and FR TDI's.

The changeover from Cupra to FR seen a few cosmetic changes, the silver mirrors, different alloys but also a few things were lost like the Cupra stitching on the seats, 6-CD changer etc.
I think the idea is for the new Leon to have an FR and a Cupra, (losing the Cupra-R)

The FR TDI and Cupra TDI has the same performace, both 150bhp....:funk:

I changed from the Ibiza FR to the Leon FR TDI a few weeks ago and i have top say it is quite superb although im sure i will be getting it remapped sometime in the future...

Basically go for either the Cupra or FR, you wont regret it! :D

i have the cupra tdi 150.
correct me if i,m wrong.
leon cupra R 225 ( Top of range ) petrol
leon cupra tdi & leon cupra fr+ ( are the same ) deisel ( but different specs )
then leon fr

Toying with the idea at the mo! I used to have a Ibiza Cupra, before I went A3 and R32. The jump to Fabia vRS is because I need 5 doors and diesel... a mate was wanting rid of his vRS and wanted and R32, so it was a good deal for me.

I like the 130hp power but find it the car a tad small for my liking, plus I need to get rid of the 80 TDi and make do with one car for the next 6 months until new house is bought!

Think I need to find a dealer with a late model FR in stock so I can have a wee TD !

:)

I just seen you have a VRS Fabia which is pretty much identical to the Ibiza FR TDI in peformance etc as its the same 130bhp engine etc.
This is what i had before i needed something bigger but still a diesel and still quite fast hence I bought the Leon. It has a lot more Turbo lag so not finding it as nippy at low speed around town but open it up and it doesnt stop pulling....

There is no Leon Cupra FR+, it goes....

leon Cupra R 225 (Older model 210) -Petrol
Leon FR TDI and Leon FR 20VT

FR+ was just the last few FR's to be sold getting the extra bits like Cupra-R bodykit and Alloys.

The Leon Cupra's got changed to Leon FR's in 2004...

Hope this makes sense.. ;)

FR stands for Formula Racing
Cupra stands for Cup racing
Cupra R stands for Cup racing racing

the R was added in competition to other manufacturer's bringing out a +, or X variant of their respective sport model.

FR+ was the runout "revolution" deal for the leon mk1 diesel.
basically, the cupra was re-named FR and gained titanium mirrors, and new alloys.
FR+ gained Cupra R bumpers and body styling kit, Cupra R lookalike (ibiza cupra 17") alloys, and a £2500 price reduction.
this is a FR+ with 19" Audi A8 alloys, LED rear lights, and chrome styling kit

How come your FR badge on the front side is all red? Usually they are Black and Red :)

Im not really too sure why the FR is all red but i think there is someone else on here with a Red FR+ and his is the same...
If someone can tell me why i would be interested to know as well....:)

Maybe its a special model...;)
