Should be picking up a Nevada White VZ2 with a pano roof tomorrow, was registered by VAG 31st May 2023 and has covered 1463 miles since - I'm guess they force-registered cars, put a few miles on them and dumped the vehicles on the dealer network...that's never happened before. :D

Car history before this...lots of Audis including 3xRSQ3 (340/367/400PS), the last one of which got stolen, broke into the house to get the keys and took it from a locked garage. By the end of the week it was on Ebay in bits - the police raided the premises and only found part of the car. Replaced the RS with an A1 Citycarver 1.5 (same engine Seat/Cupra use) fearful of the insurance impact of a total loss - just as well as the A1 is £850 a year, however strangely perhaps the VZ2 is not a great deal more.

After more than 20 years of Audi cars I'm staggered by the level of standard kit, there are almost no options. Looking forward to this one after 6 months in the A1.

Did tons of research and found that Cupra Ateca didn't seem to feature heavily on the thieves target list which is an encouragement and the insurance rates seem to reflect this. I am going to get a Ghost2 fitted - had one in a 2018 B9 RS4 and to be honest it was a pain in the rear, sadly a necessary evil.

Picked up theVZ2 on Thursday in the end, vehicle handover is a very different experience than when one buys an Audi (and in the same dealer group too - Listers), whereas I would have expected as a minimum getting my mobile connected it was a handshake and goodbye!

I'm very impressed by the vehicle, in some ways its like sitting in the VAG parts bin - there are lots of recognisable items, electric window switches for example. There are oddities too, the mirror switch controls feel upside down and the audio volume control is on the left - and my brain expects it to be on the right.

Was expecting the standard audio system quality (no Beats) to be completely dreadful and it's actually OK, I can live with it. The configurability of the virtual cockpit displays is impressive - much more so than is possible in any Audi I've owned. Android Auto launches quickly and wirelessly too - curiously the dash detects Google maps is running and launches the navigation widget in the dash - without the route guidance working. Had a previous gen Karoq last year as a loaner and that provided the pictogram turn instructions in the dash when Android Auto is running - was neat.

Good to hear your feedback from Audi perspective. I am picking up Cupra ateca in March. I think there will be a few additions (Android and tail gate opening from my current 21 plate

Not got a new one, but picking up a 2021 Ateca on Monday. Had a Golf R a few years ago and I miss it like mad. Looked at another Golf R but needed something taller for my poorly back. I don't like the styling of the Troc R, or the premium price!, so the Cupra fits perfectly.

Finally plucked up the courage to sell my 9-year-old Yeti and buy a 74 reg 6-month-old, ex-demo Graphite Grey VZ2, with just 2500 miles on the clock. Collected it yesterday and am very pleased so far, though trying to work my way around the info-tainment system is proving to be an interesting "challenge".
The biggest downside so far is the paucity of interior storage areas, but I guess coming from Skoda, I knew I had been spoiled. No under-seat drawers, no dash top lidded box, no boot nets etc, but I'll be happier when my spare wheel kit arrives from Simpson Skoda this week, which will give me useful under-floor storage. (Simpson's price was the best I found anywhere!).
I need to fit a 12v socket in the boot, and Swansway Crewe is going to fit a genuine Seat fold-away tow bar in a few weeks.
On the really big plus side are the ride, power and handling. It's nowhere near as firm as the reviews suggest (in comfort mode at least), and of course, it goes rather well! Seeing how it copes with the single-track roads on Mull in a couple of weeks will be interesting, but it must be smoother than my Escort RS2000 4x4 (almost anything is smoother than the RS!)
So, after a total of 15 years of Yeti ownership, it's a voyage of discovery that I'm quite looking forward to.

The storage cubby holes in the Ateca are a bit limited. It's a toys 🧸 out kind of car where every thing is scattered on the floor. Reminds me of one of those spartan German hotels with clothes pegs on the wall, no closed shelving and you shower naked with a glass panel to the room  .

Those velcro sticky bags you can stick on the back of the rear seat in the boot to give some storage. Whilst you can buy under seat compartment for the passenger seat side I decided it wasnt worth it. You can stuff quite a bit in all the door pockets.

& ofcourse its built in the Skoda factory. They took the Seat designs and turned it into the Ateca, then the Karoq with the storage pockets and may be umbrella storage ?. Then turned the Ateca into the Cupra Ateca. Without looking at the specs of the Karoq v Cupra Ateca I guess the VZ2 has more umf.

Been a while since I've been to Mull but I'm sure it will handle the roads with ease. The 4Drive has worked well in snow, least when there is some in the south. Wales we have a black ice rink outside when it freezes up. Yet to try it on that. Bad enough walking down the road... our Celtic mist coming off the sea touching the roads creates the skating rink and they aren't treated.. .

I did move over to all weather tyres from the summer ones it came with. Made the car a more respectable 4Drive. Pass on the Cupras thick wheels it may have. Mine is a standard Ateca TDI 2.0. At the time of purchase the Vag spec tyres were not available in all weather. That has now changed.

Tow hook was the only thing I didnt buy at the time. All the other goodies were optionally available which you can't buy now on the standard Ateca. You have to look to the Cupra for that in those marketing VZ bands.
