when i eventually go down the turbo back route this box will be going anyway. its just a temporary way to get the noise i want, before i commit to a full system.

its not going to sound much different to having a turboback on the car. saying that it sounds like 1.4 corsa is nonsense haha, considering that a turbo back system would usually delete this silencer. think there's a certain stigma attached to doing this as its a cheap mod.

well, people are perfectly entitled to do what they want with their own car, no matter how much they paid for it. I used to be quite snobby about exhausts, but at the end of the day its just a metal tube going from high pressure to low, the easier it can do this the better. far better off getting a custom system designed around what you would like than buying an off the shelf one, at double the price.

So wrong. but you are entitled to your opinion. I used to design exhausts and there is soo much more to it than high to low. A helmholtz silencer is that size for many reasons. Especially with a supercharged system.

But you can believe what you like.

I havnt heard one inperson so I'm not sure how they sound. They seem alright from the Videos.

The exhaust science of a turbo car is simple. Large and short.......until the point when any shorter and any larger makes no difference. Regardless of how it sounds which is good imo its removing a restriction in the system which is not necessary for the engine to perform well and will actually be better for the engine.

Dosent sound the same either in the video as in person

+1. :D

i think i'll be more than happy with how it sounds. if not, it won't be catastrophic as i'll be keeping the standard silencer

Admittedly never even touched twin charged but yes turbos do like little restriction but can over spin with too much so best to watch out for that

If you think they sound like a 1.4 corsa you obviously havent heard a corsa, admitedly there are much better engines tones than the 1.4tsi but its better than i expected it to be, doesnt sound amazing but still raspy enough to give it abit of character.

a completely ridiculous idea to say it sounds like a 1.4 corsa haha, some people just like to stir the pot.

that's a clip of mines standard, from cold, revved to about 3500 revs, will post another video tomorrow after the silencer has been removed.

so...

that's it done! picked the car up an hour ago and i must say i'm very impressed with how it sounds.

deeper tone and burble on idle, the forge blow off adapter is also a lot more audible. when not on load the car sounds oem quiet, even with both windows down, but once you put your foot down it is so much throatier than before. not heard any dsg farts when driving the car, but in my video below you can hear a small one as i change from 1st to 2nd....

for £70 i'd recommend it to anyone! i've kept the standard silencer for warranty purposes, quite surprised at the size of it lol.

removed silencer with my size 12 as a size comparison:

before video:

after video (parked in a car park, i believe all the "smoke" you see here is dust that the exhaust kicked up, as my phone was covered in it after i picked it up haha.)

stupid electric steering!

Was it just chopped and welded or have they made it so you can put it back in and out?

Sounds alrite to me.
