Ok, just changed my standard bosch jobbie to a piston type recirc. Took the car for a spin to check all was wee, it was, lovely. Until i came upto my road and turned the corner. Power steering went dead, looked at the clcoks and battery light was on? Turned ignition off, then strated as normal, and it fired up fine

Any ideas?

I very much doubt its a problem related to the DV, as its got no electrical systems, on the Mk1 at least.

The first thing would be to check to see if you haven't snagged a wire or pulled something off while you've been fitting the DV.

If the car is just conking out, then double check the pipe work is properly seated and there are no huge air leaks.

Only thing i didn't do was clamp the hose that goes to the top of the dump valve, as i didn't have a jubilee clip small enough. Could this be the cause?

Where the vacum pipe fits is the bit it fits to able to turn?

If not the hardness of the spring will dictate how it opens.
