Seeing as VW are launching the new Passat with a 240ps BiTurbo diesel engine, it would be interesting to see if they fit it into the Golf and it then becomes available for the Leon.
The car's are all based on the MQB platform so it should be doable. VW say the engine will fit into the Golf but it's significantly heavier due to the 4motion system, and it may not be practical in a smaller car.
237bhp and 500 Nm of torque would mean a lot of serious mid range grunt. I reckon a 6 to 6.2 second 0-60 time should be easy to achieve in the smaller, lighter Leon.
The only thing stopping me getting a Cupra ST is the 25K miles I do each year. I think a Cupra D or faster FR would be a good compromise.
EDIT: Looking at the specs of the new Passat they offer the 240ps version in FWD and 4motion, great! Come on Seat make it happen!
