As of late my 03 cupra feels sluggish. Its got a revo stg 2, forge FMIC, carbono CAI, downpipe, sport cat, and full system....But as of late, it just seems slow.

Any idea's? Iv cleaned the air filter today, tomoro im going to clean the MAF sensor. Apart from that any other idea's i can check. Its booked in for a power run wednesday, so i want to try and sort it before then.

Any help is always apreciated.

Jay

Its got a forge dump valve. Hadnt thought of coil pack....Iv heard all this talk about MAFS and coil packs going on cupras ect..and thought i was lucky mine has been fine.

Could be my time lol.

How much am i looking if the coil pack is on its way out? Anyway i can check...VAG.COM ect. Iv got Vag.com..just dont know how to Log data and that yet...I have yet to play with it properly.

Ask the guys in the VAG-COM & Diagnostics section of the forum how to a. ) produce a log and b. ) ask what it means and give you their diagnosis. So far you have flagged up one of the main reasons to loose power being the MAF and I the other.
As for youre other question regarding the coil pack replacement it best answered by someone else who has experienced this. I do know of some people who have these replaced under warranty, granted these have been on other VAG cars with the 1.8T in its varients.

I had mine replaced. Can't quite remember how much but they are a pretty cheap part to replace. At a guess between £20 - £30.
They do say if one goes then likeley another might go. I had one go then another within weeks so got all remaining 3 replaced and now have 2 spare part used if it happens again.

If that feels sluggish, take a handful of Nytol and then try driving it!

Coilpacks have a 5 year warranty, so if it is that take it to a dealer and they'll change it for free.

If it was the coilpacks then you'd know it. So i very much doubt its that.

My guess a boost leak or a stuff maf. Have you replaced your vac hoses?

Easiest way to eliminate the maf is to disconnect it and take it for a quick spin, if it drives better then you know its ****ed.

Otherwise jay i'll have a look at it for you.
