Howdy!

What are people usually seeing as their average oil temps? I have no idea if mine is running a bit too toasty, but it has increased (as you'd expect) with each performance upgrade:
Stock: 85 - 95 degrees
Stage 1: 95-100 degrees
Stage 2: 100-110 degrees

It actually reached a record high of 114 over the warm bank holiday weekend. Not sure if that's cause for concern, and I've no idea what the warning threshold is. This was a mixture of city and motorway driving.

Any tips on how to keep it nice and cool?

My stage one is running the same as your stage two,

Did you upgrade your Intercooler when you went to stage two, if not you should consider this.

Yeah, I’ve got the Racingline intercooler. Though the temps have increased since having it fitted, but we’ve also had some nice weather since it’s been fitted. It only got installed last week :)

Oil is not something that is kept 'cool'
All those temps are fine. Ideally you would want to be between 100-110degrees C (most engines are designed to be within that range)
Max temperature would be 120
It takes a while for oil to warm up so if you are only doing a 10minutes journey it'll only get upto 80-90 degrees.
114 isn't so high, you shouldn't be worried as long as it drops after. If you're at 114 for long periods of time consistently then maybe a service with slightly different oil would be advised

Cheers - it’s just been serviced and it’s always been running Millers Nanodrive CFS NT+ oil.
As long as it’s normal, it’s all good. Not having a ‘warning’ limit displayed anywhere, I wasn’t sure whether I was getting close to a dangerous temp.

Good timing for this post - was about to ask about mine, since on this car it seems to run at 105-107 after some spirited driving and after cooling off a bit. Now I know it is normal ;)
...on the Octavia it used to be around 100-103 in similar conditions, but this car has a bigger turbo.
It has a oil change booked next week, so let's see if it influences anything.

It seems many have been having the same thoughts. I asked my brother in law earlier what his S3 oil temp normally is as I wanted a comparative.

My Cupra 280 with a stock map regularly runs between 100 and 105 during normal driving on a hot day.

At least I’m not the only one having these concerns :) but it’s seems we are all in the same boat. Cheers all :)

most I've had is about 107 on track last summer. to be fair I haven't been out in the Cupra during this hot weather so can't compare this year.

I have been using motul 300v for a while now and very really see it over a 100 I was using millers nanodrive before and that was sitting at 105 mine is at stage 2 apr without intercooler. vrs performance seem to think its better for our engines and so do awesome gti too its not cheap I paid £96.00 for 6L and drain it after 5k.
