I have been told this before but honestly don't think there is anything. When i went to Spain there was a Cupra2 and the only thing that looked different was it was LHD, had wind deflectors and Cupra2 decals!
Just different names for different countries i guess?

Someone correct me if i'm wrong please!

THNX first...

Now I found somewhere that Cupra1 has EURO1 and Cupra2 has EURO2 motor. Cupra1 has 256mm brake discs, CUPRA2 280mm brake discs. This I think are the only differences.
And this one: 1996-1998 --> CUPRA1; 1998-1999 ---> CUPRA2

I don't know if this are right informations but i found the on the internet...

in the UK the Pre facelift (before 1997) models were called 1.8 16v GTi

Post facelift 'Cupra 2' in the UK were badged GTi 16v 2.0 16v

i have a 97 cupra sport with 280mm brakes.
My mate has a 99 cupra sport, both 16v.

there are a few little diference (mates has mine hasn't)
1) carbon fibre bits (b pillar, behind rear number plate and on the gear knob)
2) colour coded door handles
3) Tiger stripe interior
4) black floor carpet

i thinks thats it.

I'm not say thats the difference between CUPRA 1 and Cupra 2, its just the different between mine and my mates.

Mine is a "cupra 2" :D But no difference really (stickers removed now) . Just a Spanish import with all the left over bits from the factory installed. Mine had:

Sunroof, aicon,1.4 front splitter  , tiger stripes, red stitching on the steering wheel, red seat belts and not EDS (crude version of traction control).

there's various bits listed on ETKA as being for Cupra2

carbon look pillar covers, number plate trim and red edged fitted carpet mats being some of them

Everthing you named there is on mine. And as far as I know it's no import from spain

What about emisions norm...
Is there any difference? EURO1? EURO2?

I would like to import CUPRA to Slovenia but it has to be EURO2 motor...
