Hi Guys,

Cupra.net virgin.... be gentle!

Really hoping someone can help here. I am after a camshaft positioning sensor plate, not the sensor itself but the plate that is bolted to the end of the inlet cam.

To cut a very long story short, the tensioning chain jammed up causing the cambelt to snap causing the valves and pistons to royally screw eachother up in turn causing the sensor plate to buckle!

I have contacted Seat and Audi who have both said that I need to buy a complete new camshaft at £370 but the camshaft itself is fine and as my bill is currently running at £2100 i am desperately trying to find the cheapest option.

Any suggestions?

Thanks all,

Rocky

What part do you need ? A new sensor is 50 quid I have recently replaced mine , I would try looking on edition 38 there usually good for parts , thats one big bill I snapped a rod and have all uprated internals cost me 1250

Tell me about it! Know exactly how it feels.

Its not the sensor itself as thats been replaced and the fault is still there. Its the plate that the sensor sits on (held to the camshaft by one bolt) that is attached to the end of the inlet cam (left hand side if you're looking at the engine).

I'll have a look on there though. Only other option is to search breakers yards for a either a cupra r or audi tt.
