Cupra R cooling fans operating when engine cold

Hi all

One morning last week my cooling fans came on when i had just started the car, i hadn't even left the drive and they were going flat out but only for around five to six seconds.

Since then they keep running on and off like this at random times and when i have checked all the coolant hoses they are still cold but the fans still run.

The temp dial on the dash reads normal all the time

Is this a problem with the temp sender in the engine or something a little more sinister...?

Any help will be much appriciated

As Sixpot says, if the aircon compressor is on then you have the old low-speed fan fault. Do a search, you'll find loads about it.

You guy were right

found a previous post which was linked to a VW site and this had some ways of testing with visual checks and also with a mulitmeter

Found the resistor in the small fan was buggered so rang the dealer to get in in.

Listers in coventry had heard of this before and its in having surgury this morning.

Thanks for you help
