Suspension is a key part to the car, bad suspension, and you loose time on the corners..and the car wont put the power on the tarmac. Mine came with koni shocks..but they are dreadful..changing them for a bilsitien suspsion kit and new Anit-roll bars.

just reading these comments, I dont have the cupra r but have the cupra and noticed the engine note was tame on mine, got a supersprint cat back, forge d/v and a ramair maxflow cai, sounds good to me.
I much prefer the sound now and any benefits on the bhp and torque are a bonus, of course I have done it to squeeze more power but also done it for more grunt, spent lots of money but dont regret it for a minute, take peoples opinions on board and you decide at the end of the day as its your money matey.

Nope I sold my LCR back in Feb to another forum owner and now have an A3 (i'd love to have kept the LCR after spending literally thousands on it but I needed to change jobs for my own sanity ;) )

Jay. I had bilsteins on my mk3 golf gti. amazing suspension but you might find that a lot of companies try to put you off them. got friends who work at some well known VAG tuning stores who have told me this is because they get a very poor mark up on the bilsteins. make sure you spend out on decent springs though. i put unscragged venturi spring, and they compacted seriously, looked cool though seriously slammed!

Iv been tuning cars, and building track cars for a good while now..i know how good bilstiens are. Westec back them 100% also. Il be getting bilstiens with eibach springs. Should be a nice combination.

Couldn't agree more with that......

im sure we have all done this though ruddmeister, I have anyway. listened to people's suggestions then made my own mind up, ive now got to the stage where I have done most power mods and forgot about the handling mods, suppose people start mods in different area's i.e. power/handling etc.

I need some handling mods but new baby has put that idea to bed

bilstein + eibach, serious set up, nice! will have to let me know how that goes. I have always avoided coilovers and that sounds like a sweet set up. what sorta prices have you seen so far?

Yep Jock and Grant fitted my Bilstein PSS Coilovers and they were £££ but worth it in my book.

What size anti roll bars are you going for?

Is this for an LC or LCR??

Lol at above...its a age old problem that. A mans Jhonson often gets him into trouble.

Suppose we all have to grow up at some point.

in my case yes, the Jhonson did get me into trouble, plus the wallet is suffering big time, yep time to grow up but never stop having fun and enjoying modding cars.

jayGt your time will come if not already, endless

I'll not try to teach you to suck eggs but I did a fair bit of investigation into LCR suspension here if your interested

There is also a third option circa post #79

Hope it makes interesting reading

Have to agree with you hear bit pricey to spend 1g just for the exhaust note! Very little in it, what the dyno dont show is the ***** up with sports cat is slighly better.

If i were to do it again exhaust or coilovers, it would be coilovers first!

I have been doing some thinking and researching and i am going to get a Tuning Garage friend to sort me a custom made DP and 200cel Sport Cat and keep the std catback section as there is nothing wrong with the pipes/boxes and after some research the restriction is the DP and CAT, not the Catback section unless I'm going Big Turbo route which I'm not.

I should get some extra sound by changing the CAT too.

Opinions?

Whats wrong with a 100cell cat?
The std exhaust reduces to a piddly small oblong over the rear axle.
You have to saw your exhaust in half to get it off. If you saw it before the axle and put a sleeve on, you'll need to cut it again when the b.box needs changing (mine was going rusty after >10k miles).
How much does a back section cost compared to the rest (custom dp must be £££?)? Why not just change the lot and be done with it?
Agree with the dp and cat being the most restrictive. The twin dp's seem to be bent rather erm intricately and the cats are 2 x 400 cell i think.

I'd also change the suspension first. The money spent to get another 10 bhp is just crazy.

Well actually, if i was doing it again i'd stop at the first remap!

Please note the words 'Tuning Garage Friend' that means less £££ than you think plus i want a 200 cel coz of the huge difference is cost between them.

We will see how it goes but i'll NOT going to pay big bucks.
