Cupra R track use

Hi All,

Im an stuck between a civic type r, megane 225 and cupra r....

I am very tempted by the cupra due to the remap and bhp increase available but wondered how many members have tracked thier cars?

Is there anything that you would reccommend needs to be done to get the car ready for track days? Strut brace, bigger anti roll bars, brakes etc

Whatever I get will be taken to the ring and do a few days in the UK so trying to get an idea of what may need to be upgraded for the track.

An LCR can be a good track car with a few modifications:

Remap (+ stainless steel dump valve etc)
Coilovers (or springs+shocks)
Front and rear ARBs
Uprated front brake pads (e.g. DS2500)

However without those it will have too much body roll and won't be particularly fast. Budget about £1500-£2000 for the above. You may eventually need a better exhaust and uprated clutch too (another £1000).

I've done all of the above (and more) but found at the nurburgring the car really requires a limited slip diff on the front. Without it its just too easy to spin-up the inside wheel.

Realistically I'd say an LCR needs about £4000 of additional modifications to become a good track car.

Lots of others use there's on the track some with minor mods and some with major things changed,But is all about the fun you have.The engine is very strong and will take the hard life and hammer.

ive been round in each one of those on many different tracks, ive got to say the meg was nice and the dif really helps, the civic just keeps gripping and more throwable into the bends needs better brakes though, the lcr is a bigger bus and you have to do more to it ie suspension,

each one has some cracking features, i myself love turbo cars as you get so much put but the civic is just as good with the vtec, its a tough one mate.

I personally dont like the megane, Its stance is boring and just not a nice looking car imo.

The New Type R is nice and very fast i have been looking at one now im starting work just 2 miles down the road and therefore could just about afford petrol I agree with the breaks comment though but the grip and suspension is awesome and would not need to be changed.

Cupra R is Obviously the best looking car but im finding the interior is dated and the suspension is a bit wishy washy. I have also been looking at a Quattro A3 3.2 V6 as it is too a very nice car and the quattro system would provide ample grip on a track day. It would also deal with the wet weather this country is used to better.

The Leon dose make a good track car it all depends how much you want to throw at it
