hey dude, sent logs to badger and he said they are all fine

had fault codes

16685 cylinder 1 misfire detected and 17849 egr valve open circuit or short to ground.

Noone can seem to help. car is fast up to 70 then seems slower than it was and cannot, repeat cannont go fast a ton despite having a top speed of 140 and being remapped. Used to be a machine now its not :( something is up with it 100%

No one can seem to help. I am starting with the maf and have ordered a reconditioned one from carpartsforless (europarts) which is a genuine BOSCH one that has been reconditioned. I explained to them that it must be 100% bosch and nothing else. I will report back if this fixes my problems in case anyone else ends up in my situation

Update, problem is still present, I have

Changed the maf

cleaned the map sensor with contact cleaner

changed all the vac hoses including one going down to turbo actuator.
Checked turbo actuator, rod moves into actuator under vac and pushes back out when vac stops, assuming that's correct ?

VCDS runs show boost, air temperatures and maf to be fine, confirmed by badger
checked for leaks everywhere

cleaned egr as best I can with carb cleaner - cant remove as I cant get bottom two bolts off. Would pay someone to help me who has done this before :)

checked vac is coming from black box correctly, checked all vac lines for vac, all fine

cone filter cleaned and was fine anyway

fuel filter was changed a few months back, and serviced less than 5000 miles ago

Car still pulls pretty well but symptoms are down on boost, cupra tdi remapped and its only peaking at 22psi max, sometimes less and holding at 20psi (used to be 26-28 peak before, holding at 22-24)

and most importantly car hits a wall higher up and wont move past a set mph. from being at santa pod a year back I know this is not right as the car used to pull strongly well past 100mph. When I went to santa pod a few months back it was barely moving past 95mph.

I have tried everything I can think off, but am no expert. I feel sorry for anyone else if their car develops this fault as no one can help me it seems

Something is preventing my car from progressing and appears to be making the car under boost.

Only interesting thing I noticed is after cleaning the egr and air intake with carb cleaner was when I pulled out a junction and accelerated slightly the car pulled very well and the boost gauge showed a peak of 26psi, I thought it might be fixed but then the car only peaked at 22psi if I was lucky after that.

All I know is no car especially a 200bhp TDi should be gutless higher up with a peak psi of just 22psi at best. Something is wrong and I am truly out of ideas and giving up now. if I ever get to the bottom of the problem I will of course report back, any help would be greatly appreciated :)

update, problem still persists.

Coming back from a track day, i can report

car reaches 80mph fairly easily, struggles and slows to get 100mph and completly ,maxed out at 110mph

remapped cupra tdi should easily hit 130mph with a top speed of 137moh, perhaps slightly more.

Everytime you push it past 100mph you can smell a burning smell coming from under the bonnet.Seems to be strong around the egr valve location when you smell directly underneath it. Np smoke, just a burning smell everytime you push it hard past 100mph

car just gives up completely and wont budge.

car on 147,000, original turbo, clutch, new maf, no boost leaks or clutch slip. Full new decat exhaust, dtuk remap

Want on eath is up with this car :(

have you got another thread going about worn brake pads?

sounds like you have a sticky calliper to me, could explain the burning "clutch" smell as brakes and clutch's smell similar.

Yes my friend, I have, replied on that thread explaining on the last mot the following got said:

"rear parking (secondary) brake imbalance requirements only just met.It would appear that the braking system requires adjustment or repair".

Got that as an advisory back in September the 1st.

Not sure what it meant.

Since then brake fluid change has been done (noticed handbrake improved after change only taking 4 clicks to secure car)

Rear brake pads and discs have been done.

Would i be best getting it booked into a garage for a check over ?

many thanks

Sounds like you're chasing your tail... How about taking it for a dyno test to confirm power?

It would be cheaper than replacing bits to find out it's just you getting used to the power and it will reveal if there's an actual problem.

Take the Inlet Manifold off, and see if the inlet ports are coked up, this is probably messing around with your EGR readngs too, where was it mapped at? sometimes cheap and cheerful mappers can mess around with cars and then start to loose power after a while.

also check your turbo whilst youre at it to check the condition. but id suggest taking your EGR off and blanking it

Digital tuning mot by DTUK and its been running a dream for over 40,000 miles.

Really, really want to clean the manifold and egr valve, but cant get the egr valve off for starters :(

Would pay someone whos done it before

Dont think its that hard, dont forget to replace any gaskets.

At 100k my inlet manifold was about 20-30% choked up with the gunk from the EGR .. got to do something by cleaning it.. and at 145k I would expect it to choke even more.. right pain pulling the inlet manifold but was checking the turbo vanes at the time so got it by chance.

Also cleaned intercooler/pipes of oil

Also had the hose into the bottom of the intercooler split on the outside.. and I think it was split for years as my smoke is drastically reduced.. but it was a small tear that took time to develop.. mind it did coat front of intercooler with leaking oil..

Do a log of boost verus turbo control signal.. if you are pegging out the turbo to max flow you should see it plateau too early.. i.e. control wants more boost/is max.. and turbo/flow increases linearly up to this point and then actually gets cropped/capped as flow runs out but rpm continues to increase (the plateau).

The smell could be turbo running hot from maxing out.. if you run a petrol car too rich you can make the turbo white hot to the point of seeing the impeller through the casing .. no sure you could do that with a diesel but a messed up air/fuel ratio will cause problems down the exhaust but a diesel normally just smokes on excess fuel and goes slow with excess air.

Both front pads changed today due to sticking. Garage thought it would solve issue, nope :( close to giving up now.

The pads were changed because the brakes were sticking??

Surely the brakes were sticking because the caliper is sticking, so new pads won't do anything until the caliper is sorted out.

Garage assured me the calipers where not the issue and that due to dirt and not enough grease\lubricant the pads where sticking.

retaining pins where both seized on each caliper. Luckily garage saved them, greased them all up and only charged $£80 for new front pads and 2.5 hours labour. Im not complaining at that price.

Already run logs on your request Badger, you said everything seemed to be ok.

Cleaned intercooler yesterday (first time in 145,000 miles) doing everything i can do, unfortunately removing egr valve and inlet manifold to clean is out of my ability's :( perhaps thet are both badly clogged with carbon causing this issue?

Have you tried that terraclean stuff, some blokes come to your house and basically clean out all the shizzle lurking in your engine
