Hi all, sorry to start yet another turbo problem thread but I'm pretty confused right now!
Few weeks ago my tdi started to lose a lot of power and there was all of a sudden a loud sucking noise coming from what sounds like the top of the engine (turbo area). A few days later it developed the dreaded siren noise so took it to a seat specialist. He was convinced it was the turbo vanes sticking causing overboost(was coming up with Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation error code).
Luckily I have a warranty so took the turbo off and the warranty company sent it to their turbo specialist. Today I have received this report:
TURBINE HOUSING - NO WEAR OR DAMAGE. INTERIOR SURFACES COATED IN EXHAUST SOOT.
NOZZLE VEIN ASSY - NOZZLE VEIN ASSY IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION
SHAFT AND WHEEL - ALL BLADES IN GOOD CONDITION
COMPRESSOR WHEEL - ALL BLADES IN GOOD CONDITION
COMPRESSOR COVER - NO WEAR OR DAMAGE.
ACTUATOR - ACTUATOR IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION.
ON INSPECTION OF THIS UNIT BOTH END HOUSINGS WERE REMOVED AND NO WEAR OR DAMAGE WAS FOUND TO ANY TURBINE OR COMPRESSOR WHEEL BLADES. THE AXIAL AND RADIAL MOVEMENT OF THE ROTOR ASSY HAS BEEN MEASURED WITH NO EXCESSIVE FREE PLAY FOUND. THE ACTUATOR HAS BEEN TESTED AND IS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. NO FAULT FOUND WITH THE UNIT.
So its being sent back tomorrow. I have heard they are a good company but what else could this problem be?! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
