Cupra Timing Belt or Chain?

I've received conflicting info from garages as to what type of timing gear is in my Leon Cupra 07 TFSI engine.

When did the TFSI engines upgrade from a timing belt to a timing chain?

I've got nearly 70k on the clock so if it's a belt then i'll need it changed but if it's a chain then when will it need changed (if ever)?

Tfsi has a belt. Tsi has a chain like in an fr or golf gti.
All cupras regardless of year have a belt

Technically the TFSI BWJ engine as fitted to the cupras has a cam to crank belt and a cam to cam chain on the back of the engine which incorporates the VVT mechanism.

The later TSI engines are fully chain driven with the VVT variator fitted to one of the cam sprockets.

Just had a chat with my mechanic and he confirmed there is both, a chain at the back to drive the cam shafts and also a timing belt. He gave me a quote for £390 for the belt, rollers and water pump.

mytimingbelt.com states a change at 120k or 4 years. I'm nowhere near the 120k mileage....guess i should just fork out, better than paying for a new engine if it goes wrong!

That is very close the SEAT dealer price, i would ask him to do a bit better on price
