No worries mate. Can't help you on the MAF as to what it looks like. Again it could be the problem but i'd be more inclined to lean towards the O2 sensor if i had to pick one.
VCDS is a good option as it often gives more specific codes then an OBD2 reader. You can also view live readings from the MAF and lambda sensors, so that might shed some light on it. I'd definitely do that first as price of parts soon mounts up.
