If anyone has a Cupra registered on 01-03-08, could you please tell me what your car is listed as on the V5C under "Model/Type".

Mine is: LEON CUPRA TSI

It's just that on my first V5C (changed reg) I'm sure it was listed as FSI T

Mine's the same (08 Cupra). If I remember rightly the "F" has been dropped from the model name of all Volkswagen group cars in the UK (something to do with our Petrol not being a high enough RON for the FSI process to work correctly) hence FSI is now SI and TFSI is now TSI).

Mines the same too.
Reg 3/3/08 and is given as: Leon Cupra TSI

SEAT being confusing again I'm afraid, they have a history of it.

Every Mk2 Cupra incuding the K1's will run a TFSI engine with a camshaft driven fuel pump.

The TSI engine it is claimed uses a chain driven fuel pump amongst other revisions and is described a re-engineering of the earlier engine.

However to confuse matters the TSI engine has not been introduced into the Leon's as yet, it will likely come when they introudce the facelifted Cupra.

SEAT changed the name of the Cupra to 2.016v TSI as a description only, but as yet they do not use the TSI engine.

TSI uses a turbo/super charger where as TFSI is just a Turbo charged engine.

Totally different engine types...

I thought the F stood for fuel in TFSI so I don't know why they would drop it..its still uses fuel right?

TSI stands for either Turbocharged Stratified Injection
or Twincharged Stratified Injection..I'm only assuming its the latter when talking VAG as it uses both the turbo and supercharger.

Seat calling the Cupra TFSI a TSI is just bloody confusing!!!???

Can't they just call it the Cupra Turbo or 2.0T?

Actually the TSI engine in this particular instance is a turbo only, even the newer revised engine. Confusing though isn't it. :)

So far the only twin forced induction engine as far as I'm aware is a 1.4TSI engine variant.

Ok, thanks.

I knew they changed it the name.
But I was sure that my old V5C said FSI T.
And the new one now says TSI.
I'm not sure!
Anyway, doesn't matter that much!

V5C will just go off the manufacturers description. The engines have not changed in engineering as yet. As I say the new facelift Cupra when it surfaces will no doubt use the newer re-engineered engines.

yeah I was aware the only twin forced was the 1.4TSI.

To make matters even worse someone on the first aid course I attended today had a 1.4T badge on the back of their shiny new A3...whoever manufactures VAG's badges must be RICH!

I assume they drive an Audi R8 Superleggera GTI V10FSI S-Line T SE ;)
