Hi need you advice from your experience.

I have a custom remaped FR 150 @ 193bhp and 313lbft;) with clutch slip :(.

Since the remap I have really enjoyed the extra power but more the change in power delivery, eg how it pulls all the way through to redline.

Need to take it somewhere to get the clutch done and thinking of taking it to allards. Been looking at what they offer and im temped to spend my bonus on a stage 3 conversion. So now comes some questions?

Will i be smiling as much as after my initial remap?

Is the car likely to become unreliable?

How many miles am i knocking of the age of the car?

Is it worth it?

All comments welcome

Cheers

do you mean get a hybrid turbo along with an uprated clutch?

Im not sure how reliable the turbo's are but have heard a few stories of blown turbo's

The max power available will be around 230bhp as thats the injectors maxed out.

Have you already upgraded your brakes and suspension to cope with the extra power?

What other mods have you got...

No other mods except a green panel filter and a good set of tyres. car handels the power at the moment,I know it could do with some suspenision anti-roll bar upgrades to unlesh the potential, Not into handeling so much though as thats when it gets dangerous, Only will use the power in a straightline lol. Breaks are due to be upgraded as soon as standards wear out.

Yes looking at turbo upgrade.

i think in stage 3 theres a replacement turbo an fmic its a vw engine it should go round the clock and it should be a complete new turbo so no more less reliable than yours

as for smiling i have no experience but theres loads of lads with the new turbos on here search for either vnt2 (turbo) or up to vnt5

The only person that has ever blown an Allard VT2 turbo is Dan , triple D. The first was off my rolled Cupra and the second had a mechanical fault which was replaced under warrenty. Both of us had hybrid Ibiza`s and both of us had accident and destoryed them. The engine is bullet proof mate so don`t worry about reliablity. Is it worth it ? Well that`s more a personal thing, i didn`t regret it as i did it again on my Audi.:)

i have got my beeza booked into allard for a stage 3 conversion already have a re-mapmat the mo..... also wondering about the difference in power wil it be a big difference like going from a standard car to a re-mapped car?

Stage 3 is very good. :) Stage 4 is even better. I'm somewhere around stage 4 although I think my mapping needs more aggression put into it as I was only able to run 15 flats at the pod, and an Ibiza FR was getting into the 14s....

^^^^^ gutted.

Should be running low 14's with that sort of power.

Probs be best getting a pair of 16" steelies with wide slicks on or semi-slicks. to aid traction

Yep, i blew 2 hybrids up  would i do it again if i had the chance, most deffinately. I cannot fault allards as a company as they are absolutly fantastic when it comes to knowledge, fitment and aftersales service when i had my problems.

They way the power is given with the hybrid is like no other remap imho.
Speak to lloyd or alan at allards, and just ask them about the conversion,i guarantee if you take the plunge you wont regret it.

Oh and it doesnt effect mpg either, on a 100 mile journey i averaged 63mpg on 2 occasions, and when nailing it could see high 20's average.

lol this is making me feel better and better.... was slightly worries of the cost and aalso about the mpg and wear on the engin/turbo but hearing this is all good! triple_D when you got yours done was it like driving a complete new car? ie, power delivery also what about the power band does it still tail off around 4k?

yep, considering i had done all the prep work first, ie, brakes, wheels, suspension, full milltek exhaust, fmic induction kit, then went to the hybrid ;) so from around 140 bhp to 200 odd was great :D

Mine used to pull all the way to 5k and never lose power

The reason i'm going for big turbo is i want the car to hold the power better the power is great upto about 3500rpm then my boost guage starts dropping i'm sure the fmic will prob help in this department i managed to get a 15.073 up santapod yesterday i was dying to get 14.something but after 15 runs i realised it just wasn't going to happen lol hopefully i want to be running alot faster than that when i get my big turbo on saturday but i really need to put ecent tyres on the car i was going to change the wheels so i only put budget tyres on the car so i was wheelspinning into 3rd even on a hot day like yesterday.

I can't run 16s now due to having brembo 4 pots on the front, but I can easily get some 225 or 235 wide slicks on my spare 7.5" wide alloys. I had some I got 2nd hand but it turned out one was a duffer, so had to dispose of both. :(

Dont know about the VT2 but mine now really takes off after 4k rpm - totally un-diesel like.

I have lost some mpg - now hovering around 44-45mpg.
