After SEAT Turkey quoting me around €700 for a pair of sideskirts, I decided to have my own sideskirts made by a local body-shop. They will be made of FRP. I am usually not an after-market guy but the side profile of the cupra is ridiculously under designed. It looks like as if the sideskirt was there but fallen off, I hate seing the undercarriage and various under cables and rubbers every time I see the car from the side.

So I wanted to have a side-skirt that would only bring some thickness to the side, which would not extend up to the body panels like the OEM ones and to generally to balance the aggressive front and rear look of the car.

Today, they finished the molds and on Tuesday they will be ready to mount painted..I'll update the progress and here is a preview of what has been done so far,

The piece with lift cutouts for service convenience,

And a test fit on the car,

Having the little curve under the rear panel filled so it wouldn't have a gap..

more to come...

P.S. The cost of pieces + paint + fitting = 150€ :) Not bad huh ?

They are going to look great, nice and subtle and indeed improve the side of the car!

+1!
Looking good :)

Thanks a lot guys, that is my intention too.

Yea look good and very cheap. How comes the seat ones are so much?

Thanks. I have no idea why they are THAT expensive, the ones for four door models cost almost half of that price.. go figure...

In Spain these 150€ are only for the sideskirt, excluding paint and fitment.
go ahead mate, looks well !!

That is still half the price of them here..

I just heard from the bodyshop that the molds have been prepared, going to paint booth tomorrow.. anxious to see the results...

I think u should start ur own business and start selling them! I would buy them! I like me a subtle look! :)

Cheers!

of course!! :D :D!!

I like the guys sideskirts tho very subtle look also looks like he has been looking at the vw golf gti mk5 sideskirts looks kinda similar! :D

:D:D Sounds great but if you add the shipping to the cost, they would come around the same cost of OEM ones over there I think . But who knows, lets see the results and if I am happy with the look and quality, If you guys like to, I could send you guys some pairs...

Hmmm! get some pics up and i'll decided later! i think would be cheaper anyway, seeing as you can get it painted first and then bubble wrap it up and ship it! :D! i think shipping would be cheap.

They are going on on tuesday, I'll make sure to snap some shots and you guys can decide where you would or not !

Unexpectedly they were ready to be mounted this afternoo so I quickly went to the body shop and put them on. They changed the look of the car incredibly if you ask me. Right now I don't even feel like I need lowering springs anymore.. Subtle but effective mod.
I took some very bad cell-phone pics but I'll take proper ones in few days.. Hope these helps,

I had the wheel well facing parts painted matt black to match the coloring at dark surfaces...

really like the skirts, more of a subtle upgrade, i think the optional Seat skirts look aggressive and go with the curves of cupra
