Car 1.8 20vt mk4 ibiza

Under full acceleration the car basically almost stops revving at 3000rpm it will pick up revs slowly and splutter through and then pick up again, occasionally get the odd pop and bang from the exhaust. This does not happen under any acceleration below full throttle. Have been trying to sort this problem for a while .

The only code i get is intermittent misfire detected and it does not throw a warning light up . only get this when i get with vag com. Mechanic friends of mine have looked at various values of things as car is running and everything looks ok.

Coils
sparks
injectors
Filters

If anyone comes up with a new idea that we havent thought of and it fixes it i will genuinely paypal you a tenner im that sick of this now

Have you checked the compression of the cylinders?

My guess would be a camshaft or crankshaft sensor is playing up.
 
Have you checked fuel pressure. Sounds like a fuel starvation issue. Can yiu hear the pump running. Low fuel pump output would be my guess considering what you have changed already.
 
yep compression has been checked sorry forgot to add that ,have not checked fuel pressure as the exhaust is popping isnt that a sign of extra fuel being dumped anyway?

I wouldnt look into that too much I would have been checking the fuelling way before getting as far as compression testing.
 
Just had this happen to my 1.8t fr it was getting to about 4k rpm then engine management light coming on, after getting fault code reader on it turned out it was a engine speed sensor.
 
just to clarify it does rev higher than 3k it just cuts the power and it feels like it's fighting itself for a bit to get higher, tried running without maf and made no difference still no codes apart from intermittent misfire detected
 
Have swapped injectors and each time i clear the code for a specific cylinder next time the code pops up it has changed cylinders.

Main problem i am having is that im not getting any certain part is at fault just a misfire
 
Did the code follow the certain ibjector around ie move injector to number two misfire on number two
 
Nope didn't follow any injector around just seemed to pick a different one with each code clearing, not checked that how would I go about that
 
Sounds like crank sensor to me, £20-30 from a motor factors might wanna try that next !
