I got a bag 15 of proper CV boot clips from my local motor factors for £5.
Bought the tool off ebay for £7.
Did the job perfectly - and properly.

Its a pet hate of mine when people use cable ties / jubilee clips... its a quick fix, but wont last.

Nice one i never thought of ebay!!! Will get onto that. Are they standard sizes then? Not a mechanical person but CV boot clips wont be out my league lol. Yeah i bought the car and noticed on full lock the boot comes out of position. Its all clean in there so will just regrease it and seal it up properly without cable ties!!!

Erm, I used cable ties to fix mine in place...

Although in my defence I haven't got the tools to actually crimp the proper clips, so the real thing wouldn't have been as good.

I have tried so many times to use cable ties but they aren't up to the job they just come apart on full lock. Also a jubilee clip wont fit and the hub is so close to the cv boot it fouls as it goes round....

They are usually generic mate, you get larger ones for the outer part of the boot, then some smaller ones for the inner part of the boot:

These will do the job - same type as I fitted:

Get them on there as tight as you can by hand (getting the three pins into three of the grooves) - lightly tap them down with a hammer, use the cv boot tool to tighten them down slowly - whilst tapping on the three clips every now and again.

The CV clip pliers I purchased:
