Hi Everybody

My seat alhambra 1996 petrol has recently had an electrical fault caused by dampness.

The first occurence happened when I parked over fresh snow ; the second when going through a puddle;

Obviously now I will avoid puddles like the plague & try not to park over fresh snow.

The first time we managed to eventually get the car started but it kept cutting out when slowing down ; once it had dried it was fine; second time cut out completely left overnight started ok but ran like b4 cutting out but not as bad; once dried out all o.k.

Any ideas what electrics could cause this so next time I have belly pan off I can have a look.

Cheers Don

Hi, my petrol Alhambra did the same, but didn't get to the bottom of it. It cleared up on its own. Could be distributor, as it is on the front of the engine, getting soaked by the water or a connector on the loom somewhere. Have a look around the engine at the connectors and make sure they are ok. Clean out the dizzy cap and rotor as well.
