Could this be because i cut the silly little metal tab off the damper (replaced the spring). Anyway, I never tightened the damper retaining nut in the hub and it has slipped through and ripped the cv boot. Don't seem to be able to get it to move out as its poking an inch or so out the bottom of the hub.

Is this just a case of taking it all apart and replacing the short driveshaft and getting the damper out of the hub or have i fooked the damper by cutting the little metal tab off? It wasn't going back into the hub so i got annoyed and just cut off.

Cheers

Cutting that postioning lug of that damper was a pretty silly thing to have done - that lug forces you to replace the damper in exactly the correct position. Anyway, what is done etc, so, maybe just buy a replacement gaitor kit for that drive shaft.

I know, feel a complete tool but does that also mean the damper is useless now as i've cut the lug that the bolt on the hub looks like it went through?

Or is it a case of doing the bolt with the spline piece on the end very very tight so the damper can't move again and drop lower?

Thanks for the reply anyway. :D
