Hi sorry for all these questions as u can prob guess i've just bought the car and getting to know it.

Should the ABS light come on when the ABS is triggered? Mine doesn't!!

Is the traction control light the light to the right of the ABS light? When should this come on? When the ESP is switched off and when the traction control kicks in? mine does neither?

However both these lights come on when u turn the ignition on?

Thanks Chris

No, or at least I don't think so and I've never seen it come on the few times I've needed ABS. The ABS light on the dash is a warning light to show a fault with the ABS system.

No, that's the brake pad wear indicator, should light when your front pads are almost worn out.

The TCS/ESP light is underneath the ABS light, in the middle of the bottom row. Exclamation mark in a triangle with an arrow round them.

It should come on when TCS/ESP takes control of the brakes, flickering on and off. If you turn TCS/ESP (whichever you have) off, then the light should come on and stay on to warn you. It will also stay on if you have a failure in the TCS or ESP control unit.

ALL the idiot lights should come on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on. This is the power-on self test, and verifies that the lamps are working and will tell you if a fault occurs while you're driving.

If the one in the middle of the bottom row does not come on at startup, then it should be looked at. In the worst case, someone may have blanked it off or broken it to disguise a TCS/ESP fault.
