I had to use my headlights on my new Ibiza for the first time on the way home tonight in the rain. I was a bit confused as there was no light on the dashboard to tell me they were turned on...I had to wait to get a reflection in another car to confirm it. Is this right that there is no 'lights on' dashboard light?

Not too sure what you mean by that. If you mean full beam then there is a blue dashboard icon that come up, if it's just general headlights then the dashboard becomes a lot brighter, but thats only really noticeable in the night.

True, when you tirn on the lights you will notice if it is relatively dark that you can actually see all the stuff on the dash and if you use high beams a blue icon comes up on the dash, otherwise, no, you will have no idea hehehehehehehehehe.

... apart from the fact that the dial to the right of the steering wheel, which is used to operate the lights has been turned. But wouldn' you just remember that you've put your lights on? :funk: lol

Fair comment but I've only had the car a week and it was the first time I'd turned the lights on. I'm quite sure my Mk4 had a green light on the dash (with all the warning lights) when the lights knob was turned. As it was daytime without stopping the car and looking I couldn't tell if the lights were on even though the knob was turned.

Are you one of those annoying types who stick their fog lights all the time regardless of the weather ;) :p Cos if you always pull out the knob as you turned it then the fogs would come on, accompanied by a dash light which reminds you the fogs are on. But there shouldn't be a light for normal (dipped) headlights.

I have just turned the lights on in my car & both the clocks light up. It is quite visable, there is no symbol on the dash to tell u that the lights are on.:D:D:D

No way to using the fogs in the daytime that really winds me up when people do that [:@] I don't like seeing people driving on sidelights and foglights at night either how dumb is that? A few months back I was being tailgated by some muppet doing that and he was so close I didn't even know he was there until he turned off and I caught a glimpse of his lights in my side mirror. Then the next day I saw a little old lady in a Micra doing the same thing!

It was torrential raining when I put my headlights on yesterday ;)

i always drive with my side lights on during the day and always drive with my main headlights on at night except when its really dark and cant see i turn the main beam on but turn them off when see on coming cars but only use fogs when its foggy, vw golf had his fog and his main beam on today and its sunny

Yeah, if there was ever something that drove me nuts is some idiot driver with his main beams on in day light. Don't they realise that is is still blinding when coming towards a person????!!!!!! I have found this to be atrend with older drivers................. in mercs.........................mmmmmm

you think audi's would be the same but when we got our q7 i then new about the "day lights" that they have and no i realised why they do it
