Morning,
I have a 3-wire dashcam kit going in. I've got two of these kits in other cars and they work fine. I've hooked up the permanent live to pin 8 on the headlight connector and the switched live to pin 10. Before I connected everything I used a tester to see which pins were live with ignition on and off, having pulled the switch out and disconnected it first. Pin 8 was live all of the time so that seems to abe a permananet live feed, no problem with that one.
The issue I have is with the switched live. When I installed the dashcam and put the headlight switch back it's not working as expected, the dashcam now only comes on when the sidelights are turned on. I did a few more tests, and it seems that pin 10 only behaves as ignition-switched when it's not connected to the switch. When it's connected to the switch it only comes live if sidelights are turned on.
So my question is, which wire from the back of the headlight is a true switched live?
