I managed to get a test drive in an Evo 9 FQ 360 last month, when I was 21, and the dealer knew I had no intention of buying the car! ;)

I had the same prob when i brought the FR i had to go to a different dealership as my local (PREMIER SEAT Stoke) wouldnt let me out in one...managers face when i dropped by get some bits for it a week later was priceless!
However as soon as i went down have a look at the new cupra the first thing they did was get the keys for it.
Why dont they worrie about selling the car and let you worrie about ins and paying for it!
SEAT dealers mate, most of em are wank put me off ever having another SEAT!

I had problems with Premier aswell. they wouldn't let me have a test drive in an FR TDI 170 without putting down a deposit.

Told them to go fook themselves.

Bought an mk5 Golf GTI instead. I should pop in and say hello to the w*nker !

LC Charles in Crewe aren't much better either.

I had the same problem with the Leon Cupra in Seat Milton Keynes, I got my girlfreind to call on the way as I went from work and didnt have my drivers license (i assumed you would need) and they said I cant drive as im under 25 and their insurance doesnt cover it. I though f**k it ill turn up anyway and kick off if they say I cant drive it after all I'm considering buying a £20 grand car, I want to at least drive the thing. I turned up and said I wanna test drive it and they asked my age, he went away spoke to his manager then come back with the keys. (so it was b*llox then!!)

The more we got talking the more he obv. believed i was interested and now wont leave me alone!..

..25 my a**e. And ive got a scouse accent!! ;P

Though having said that I went on a test drive for a cupra in London abnout 40miles away they had no problem me driving there cupra on a hour test drive, didnt even ask my name!! they did however tell me it was an ex-demo car that used to belong to the boss of the garage and they they have been ragging it round all week as he'd gone on holiday!!! it was £17k and had done 3000 miles, about 3 months old. Had they not told me that i'd have robable bought it!!!

I would have loved to have been you.. Id really rub it in.

I went to a vag garage to look at a new golf 140sport, the man was a little snobby and unhelpfull.. How ever he did ring a week later to see if I was still interested, must have been a slow day - anyway, I took great delight in telling him I went for a seat leon fr :funk:

I had EXACTLY the same a few years back with VW Birmingham, looking at Golf GTi's.. as I happened to be working locally, popped in and the salesman was so 'up himself' I walked out half-way through whatever dross he was spouting.. his manager came out after me as I climbed back into my work van and asked if there was a problem, to which I answered something along the lines of ''Yes, youve just lost a sale'' few days later I test drove my first Seat Ibiza and loved it that much, yep... you guessed it.. signed on the dotted.. am now on my second Mk4 as well as my second Mk2

Our local dealer doesnt even have a Cupra demonstrator...... one of my mates has had 2 Cupras and is interested in a new one and the best the dealer has offered is to borrow the area managers car "sometime"

J500ANT, are you talking about Amethyst Cheltenham?
If you are, your more than welcome to go and look at our candy one, not picking it up until september, so it'll be there a while. I think somebody else from this forum had their latest demo car.

I love the thought of you guys pulling up and doing the Pretty Woman "BIG Mistake" thing! LOL!

Any Dealer who denies you a test drive obviously isn't in the business of business! Its all about money at the end of the day and if they don't want to speculate then they won't accumulate! Their loss!

I had a test drive booked in both a Cupra and an FR at my local dealer as I wasn't sure which one to go for.

The day before the test drive (a Friday) the dealer rang to say the Cupra was getting the body kit fitted and was stuck in the bodyshop over the (bank holiday) weekend.

That prompted me to ring another dealer in the area who said sure we have a Cupra in so booked a test drive in that (and another FR) for the Sunday.

Drove the FR at the first dealer and although impressed really wanted a go in a Cupra. Even negotiated a deal on a Cupra but I wouldn't sign until I drove one and the salesman agreed that was sensible.

Took the Cupra out on the Sunday at the second dealer (the FR was stuck in the service department) and ordered one there and then.

The salesman at the first dealer was spot on, but there must be something wrong at a management level when they decide that getting a body kit fitted is more important than a serious customer. After all I bet half the people buying a Cupra have no interest in getting the body kit fitted anyway.

That mistake cost them over a £20K sale.

Lol. I went in to the local SEAT dealer and the Service Manager threw me a set of keys and said see you in an hour. I asked what it was and he smiled and walked away. Turned out to be a Red Leon Cupra MK2 and I never even asked for a shot!

Just shows how different some garages are.

Yep. My dealer didn't even think twice of giving me the keys to a demonstrator FR TDI. Didn't come with me, just said "come back in an hour or so". I bought the car on that merit alone. Had nothing but great service from them since. Going back on Saturday to test drive the FR TFSI DSG!

Did that to a Honda AND a Ford dealer when I was shopping around to replace the Focus. Both wouldn't give me time of day when I was in my "scruffs". In my work suit and tie. Different story. Both got told when I was asked if I wanted help... "You didn't want to help me a couple of days ago when I wasn't wearing my suit and had my piercings in"

I was in MK Seat, getting my car serviced. and the area manager was in.

Now i was looking at the latest models and what had/has changed in them and he asked if i was ok.
Told him my car was being serviced just browsing, Is there a cupra in i wouldn't mind nosing about that.

Next thing he grabbed the keys, put me in the drivers seat, and told me to drive faster. :) :)

Not only that but he took me out in his personal car the FR to see what i thought of the difference.

I'm 22

made my day booting the cupra around mk's roundabouts
