Best get the screen replaced . Unless the chip/crack is smaller than an 10p coin.

It will only take an pot hole and then you got an crack to deal with. This happened to me. Not good. Though, you can then make an claim to the local council, highways department!

Does your insurance policy cover windscreen repair/replacement? Usually, £70 ish excess for replacement. Highly recommend Auto Glass. They can fit anywhere you are and usually the same day.

My car has become an stone chip magnet also. I had chipsaway tidy up the worst of em. Very good service.

Thing is, its smaller than a 10p piece and when i was looking to book an appointment for it with Autoglass i noticed they can't repair a chip less than 6cm from the edge of the windscreen.

The actual chip is exactly 6cm, so i got in touch and they said its fine however if its less they cant repair it otherwise it could crack.
So heres the problem, from the inside, you can see the impact with the chip in the centre, smashed part around the outside and a small looking crack.

If you get what i'm saying? If not i'll get a pic to see what you guys think.

I was bloody gutted to be honest, even more so everytime i wash my car and see the stone chips around the front. The noise was so loud i thought i'd been shot at lol.
I dont wanna waste their time to come out and have to say sorry we can't do it.

TBH, if there is any doubt, there isn't a doubt!

I would get it replaced. Very quick and professional service from the phone call organizing it to signing the job off complete. Go for it girl! You know it makes sense! The only thing is if you've got an auto rain sensing screen it could take an extra day or two.

I forgot you mentioned it was near the edge. Sorry.

How about switching between aux and cd (no USB/iPod on mine)? Most annoying process. I have to click media, roll over to one of two options, click enter. Seems a little petty now that I got it in writing, but there are only two sources, why can't I just keep on clicking the media button to switch between them??

The most annoying thing I have noted is, when you open the tailgate after it has rained the water that has collected in the recess between the glass of the rear window and the bodywork proceeds to drain into the boot of the car !

Convenience wipe.
Ok if your screen's still wet, but if it's a warm day the screenwash has gone from the windscreen and the convenience wipe just smears an otherwise perfectly clear windscreen.

i hate that soooooo much!!!

^^ Yep got that exact one too. Always happens after i have cleaned and dried the car and i always forget.

About the windscreen situ, gonna pop along to Autoglass Basingstoke branch i think.

I raised this issue whilst the car was in for its first service, Garage agreed that it will get fixed under warranty. I received a phone call the other day from garage stating that the part is now on back order due to the large volume of customers having the same problem.

Had my boot handle replaced under warranty today - initially it was staying up, and then it would open the boot altogether

A friend recently reminded me of the fact there are no grab handles in the rear! I think maybe Cupras have them, but none on my TDI Sport!

Agree with these... and the windscreen wipers shouldnt need to go into the up position

With the wipers in the service position I'm always afraid the computer will return them to the park position or someone will turn the ignition back on with the wipers still lifted off the screen.

The wipers are placed under the edge of bonnet partly for the aerodynamics and partly to reduce injury to pedestrians in an accident. It's better for a head to strike the bonnet than to strike the wiper drive spindle.

Did you know the drivers side wiper can be lifted with the bonnet open? It lifts underneath the bonnet - it's really really stupid but you can do it.

The fuel cap locking with a key is really dumb. Being under the flap I thought it wouldn't freeze - but it did.

The screen washer bottle is too small and there's no warning light to tell you when it's gettting low. The screen wash filler neck could be taller for easier filling. It also seems very close to lots of electrical stuff.

The folding mirror switch is clumsy and feels like its going to break. The folding mirrors should be automatic and operate with the ignition or with the door locks or at least have a separate switch.

Only one remote key and nearly £200 for a second one!

There is no indicator to show when the TDi is doing a DPF regen so it is more likely to be interrupted accidentally.

On the ST rainwater sits in the gap across the bottom of the rear windscreen. When the tailgate is opened it pours off either side. If the tailgate is opened slowly or it's windy the water can end up pouring on the inside of the boot seals. I thought the seals were leaking until I discovered this.

I thought trip computer number 1 resetting itself automatically (after 2 hours) was a good idea. But now I'd like the option of being able to change it so that it only resets when I want it to. I only reset trip number 2 when I fill the tank and sometimes I want trip number 1 to record several journeys.

I agree about the water on the boot and the screen wash filler being a bit taller.

To ribsmoth871; don't regret it because of engine temp gauge. I'm not sure you'd regret it once you see when it turns up!

Plus Astra owners have had no temp gauge for years. Though I've noticed they got it back on the new ones... hmmmm.
