Thank you, got to plug in the code reader thats coming tomorrow to find out why i have a light on the dash, was cheaper to buy an advanced code reader then get my local Seat dealer to do it for me.

Yeah I know I've bought one to and its more than paid for itself already
Crazy how you can buy the kit to check the same as a dealer for less then a dealer will charge to find the fault, and this is an advanced unit?
Not quite, a generic code reader will only display the error code, the dealer can go in depth with the diagnostics, also if you dont know what your doing and start replacing random sensors it may cost a bit.

Very true but the one i have brought i have been told tells me a little more then just a code, well i hope so as thats what the man on the phone said.

Well just an update, my code reader arrived at 8.30am this morning and i plugged it in, told me it was either the Thermostat or the temp sensor, looked on here to see if others had same issue and found they had, changed the temp sensor and problem sorted and the best part i have brought the reader and sensor for less then the Seat Main Dealer wanted to charge just to plug in there test equipment, took me all of 5 minutes to find the fault and 5 minutes to replace the part.
This is the dealer who we brought the car from new and there have seen the car for every service and mot in the last five years,.
Well guess what.
They will not be seeing the car again all the time i own it.

Wow that code reader really does do a lot, never seen one that can do services and MOT's
Seriously though, isn't it a bit OTT to say your not taking the car there again on the grounds that a code reader was cheaper than their diagnostic time?

Depends on how you view it, car was with them only 6 days before the issue and we spent a lot of money with them and had the injection unit stripped and cleaned as the emissions were high, as far as they or we knew it could have been something they had done as the light did not come on before yet they told me we would still have to pay for the diagnostics and then if it was something they had done they would correct the issue but we still had to pay the diagnostic even if it was something they had done.
That i thought was a right pee take.
Sorry my post was based on the information you had given in the thread.
If thats the case then they should have at least read the fault memory out of the vehicle first to discover whether it was something they had done, and that should have been FOC.
Its hard for dealers at present due to people going to cheaper garages where possible and so they need all the income they can get, but its more important to keep the customers they do have coming back through the door to generate the income.
A loyal customer is a lot more valuable than trying to charge them to read a fault code in the scenario you have and therefore losing their custom.
