Now then everyone,

Just had a quick search but not really found what I'm after....

Basically I have been using Millers in my cupra tdi for a while now as a while ago I had some serious smoke problems. Using millers in my experience has solved this to a point where even when I boot it there isnt alot of smoke and the car definately feels more responsive.

I was just about to buy some more but have read up on some stuff from the states called BG244k that seems to go down a storm and runs circles around anything else at the moment.

Dose anyone have any experience of using this stuff or know of anyone that has used it in PD engines?? It would be great to hear if this stuff really is as good as the likes of fuel tech experts etc say it is.

To change or not to change? That is the question!!:D
 
I`ve never heard of it but..

Just googled it and it seems people are using it as a fuel system cleaner when they have a fault, rather than using it as a regular additive. In my experience cleaners used in this way are very strong to be used too regularly. I had some hesitation in my PD130 a while ago so I tried this: clicky I`ve used the petrol version before and this one worked a treat.

Since that worked I`ve use millers regularly and like you I have seen a drastic reduction in smoke and better throttle response. I try to stick with what works (if it ain`t broke don`t fix it), but by all means give it a go... if you follow the directions it can`t hurt.
 
I use Millers most of the time, but in Costco yesterday they were selling Redex diesel injector cleaner at about £3 per bottle. I bought some and I'm running it in the van at the moment to see what it does. It seems to be more responsive and smoother, and about the same as when I use the Millers (which isn't a cleaner btw).

Not heard of the one you're putting forward but the previous post where the bloke selling it is also the bloke telling you how good it is sounds dodgy to me. ;)
 
not used the one prought forward , nor redex for years now


my question to throw to the table is , can you mix things up

i,e for a tankfull of millers when i run low , can i then try for example wynns fuel system cleaner or forte for a tankfull , etc , or is it wise to run just fuel for a n extra few tanks before switching products , any adverse effects
 
hi just read through this page and i'm interested to know where i could buy this miller additive from .......and would it be suitable for my altea 105 bhp.......thanks in advance.....
 
I looked at the only listing I could see for a 5ltr bottle, and the bottle doesn't look like any 5ltr bottle of Millers I've ever bought. ;)

Edit: then again there's another seller I just found who is selling the type of bottle I always get.

Having owned dozens and dozens of cars, my very first diesel arrives on Friday. What fuel, what additives? :) (out of warranty)

fuel - diesel ;) i think the general feel is premium diesels are no better than regular + additive.

additive - there's a variety of diesel additives available, Millers seems to be the most popular, but Redex seems equally good...

Edit: how dos the warranty work for things like shell v-power, essentially reg diesel + additive? something to do with control of the % added??

Shell station just up the road from you Dave. Generally it's the cheapest round here anyway, and certainly better than supermarket fuel. As for additives, Millers if you fancy, but as you don't know any history of the engine then maybe a bottle of Redex would be better first time round. I have a spare bottle if you want.

I buy most of my fuel there. :yes: Redex it is then(got to have a trip to Halfords anyway). :thumbup:
 
Dave, be careful. When you pull in to fill up, all the pumps have a diesel nozzle, but the one on the right (see diagram) is V Power only. Don't be a lemon and fill up there without actually wanting V Power.

Do you have a Shell card aswell? Gains you 0.5 p per litre off in discount. Not much, but it all helps. And with a fuel bill the size of mine it's a good few quid a year.
