but have seat stopped the cupra TDi and renamed it the FR on newer models The only difference is cosmetic. Mechanicaly there the same, so isnt the FR the same as the cupra TDi????

yes but with slightly different looks, not mocking or anything everyone hs an opinion, i dont like the silver mirors, reminds me of people when they put chrome covers or even m3 and dtm mirrors on, dont like the style wheels either, but changed mine now, so hey

yeah im with you on the mirror thing, im looking at changing the silver ones on my FR once i have abit a spare change!!

was actualy going to look into ,to see if like the passat highline style mirrors would fit, with the indicator in them, then flush the wingd, there a nice style and not much difference in shape mirror

I dont understand what you mean about the FR trying to be something its not?

The Leon FR is almost exactly the same as your Cupra, only differences already mentioned like mirrors and different wheels.
Looks like SEAT started changing the badging with a view to the current Mk2 LEON range so Cupra will be replacing the older name Cupra-R.

I think he meant FR+ - which is the one in your signature picture.

I see your point though - i don't think a car made to look a certain way by the manufacturer can look like "something its not" - it is what SEAT made it to be and thats what it looks like.

let me know how you get on with that im intrested how it goes!!!

FR+ would be my ideal car, but they only made them at the end of the production run of the Mk1 Leon, and therefore they're still relatively new, and therefore too expensive !!! lol

Seen a couple of Cupra's in the local dealers for about £10-10.5k

I've also spotted an '03 1.8T Cupra in a local VW specialists, for £7.5k, but it's got 80k on it.....

Just to clarify guys cos some of you seem lost lol

We have 3 models :-

Cupra
FR
FR+

Mechanically - all are exactly the same (150 bhp standard)

Difference between Cupra and FR are :-

Cupra has CD autochanger - FR has single changer

Cupra & FR have different wheels (FR's much better IMO)

FR has silver wing mirrors (Cupra has body coloured mirrors)

FR has "FR" badges on each front wing above wheel arch - cupra doesnt (although some have the small cupra flag instead).

FR has slightly different colour interior

Some Cupra's have the "Cupra" badge on the rear - FR doesn't

Difference between FR and FR+ are :-

FR+ has the Cupra R bodykit (front & rear bumper)

FR+ has a smaller version of the Cupra R wheels (17" instead of 18")

FR+ badges are all red - FR's are Silver & red

Hope that clears up any misunderstandings :)

FR has different front bumper than cupra (again FR much better)
HUH has the same front bumper as the cupra , the plus has the cuprR bumper

Aye and FR+ has LCR front and back.

A better guide would be.

How to spot a dirty Derv LCR lookalike.

Front:

Silver mirrors.

Side:

All red FR badge and lack of big stoppers. 1" smaller diameter wheels if you have hawk eyes.

Rear:

Smoke.
Twin zorst instead of oval.

fook my heads in bitz now, whats going on, if you look from the front you can only tell the fr from the cupra by the silver mirrors, i was saying the cupra and the fr has the same front bumper, not rocket science
