I was wondering, whats makes the cupra so different when comparing to a top spec FR apart from the engine map? I know that Cupra also has DCC, but everything else, including the dsg (which I assume will be identical in MY19, dq500) is the same.

Can the 2.0 tsi FR actually become a Cupra with a few hundred spent on remap and perhaps an exhaust ?

The cupra benefits with different turbo and im guessing injectors if the previous model is anything to go by.

A mapped fr still wouldnt have anything on a stock cupra

Also brakes would be bigger on the cupra too , i know more about the mk2s but the difference in the fr and the cupra is more than meets just the eye buddy

bagged fr , k1 rep , 19s

I would say not. Otherwise why doesn’t everybody buy 2.0 tsi FR with top spec and mod it??

You would definitely end up with a sleeper car if the FR could achieve Cupra bhp, torque etc.

Therefore in my opinion I don’t believe you can.

In conclusion BUY A CUPRA!!

Anyone know the engine number of the 2L 190 engine and the dsg box that'll be on it?

I ask because I had a small shopping list of mods ready for my 1.8 180 dsg, but seeing as my "confirmed" build date was cancelled I'll now be getting the 2.0L 190 dsg when it eventually gets built.

Id go with the 190bhp engine will be a detuned version of the golf gti engine same as the vrs itd probably map up to the same figures as they would

Yes i agree in bodykit, diff, exhaust and interior and more importantly, the warranty. However I talking about only technical specs.

Not sure about the budack cycle that Daire92 mentioned, I thought all those engines were EA888 and same generation.

It would be interesting to find out what else is actually different

Well it'll be a 7 speed dsg box, probably dq500 as dq200 cant handle more than 250nM torque. The 2.0 190hp leon will be 320 nm.

The engine probably mapped and configured to be closer to polo gti 2.0 200hp

I wouldn't put it past them to limit torque so they can put the dq200 in, it's been done before

I like that theres a fast FR option though as the Cupra isn't for everyone :)
