I'm torn between getting a milltek sports cat turbo back non resonated system or a cobra turbo back resonated system with sports cat. I know the cobra is louder so thought it would have to be a resonated one if that was way to go.

Question is, is there any difference in sound between a non res milltek and a resonated cobra??

I don't want the drone when driving normally as have young kids in car but don't want to pay £300 more for the milltek

you've answered own question really mate, you don't wana pay extra £300. when I had my cupra it had resonated milltek, sounded nice and quiet until you gave it some beans.. imo save you money buy the cobra. You can always get the front box removed if it is too quiet for you.

yess major difference imo.

ive had the cobra, full non resonated turbo back with decat. was really loud but sounds soo good on full boost but it was just too loud. long journeys wearnt great you couldn't really have a conversation without shouting. I had a silencer fitted which didn't really do much it was still too loud especially on cold starts first thing in the morning the neighbours hated it.

in the end I changed for a milltek full non resonated turbo back with decat. its soo quiet when driving normally but when on full boost it sounds soo good which is what I was looking for. motorway journeys are much better as you can actually have a normal conversation inside the car.

I was advised not to bother with the resonated milltek as it becomes too quiet with not much noise even on full boost.
personally I prefer the milltek over the cobra

I'm just about to fit a decat to my resonated Milltek also.
So am I right in saying that there will be no difference in sound. I was hoping for some improvement.
Currently sounds almost standard which is a shame really as the Milltek is a bigger bore than normal.. :-(

Milltek Non res is still pretty mild in my opinion. The resonated Cobra catback (I have one) is definitely louder than the non res Milltek catback.

Check the movies I have shot (I own the yellow Leon):

You say its louder but is it really louder? Is it a drone sound on long journeys??

Great videos. Thanks.
The resonated Milltek with the decat sounded nice tbh.
Not loud which is what I want, but with a nice throaty roar on boost.

Video isnt exactly reality. What we hear is not what the mic hears. The cobra can a bit droney in the mid-high rev range. Most of the time im driving with CC enabled, so no issues (on highways).

See, now this is the issue I had when deciding. Big hats off to people like ND-photo.NL who've taken the time to make these videos, but no one does videos from within the car.

I've just taken delivery of a none res Milltek turbo back with sports cat from Readiee1.8T (I think that's his user name?!) on here, though I've yet to fit it. I'll do some vids from inside the car and post them for info.

You're welcome :)

Its hard to get an impression from inside the car, believe me. Ive made some flicks inside the car with the GoPro, but the sound doesnt represent the real life situation at all (too soft).

I've just ordered a Turbo back (sports cat) non-res milltek system for the Cupra R as my mate has a 1.8T Golf and he has the same system on his....

It has a nice subtle note when driving normally, but produces a fantastic set of notes on hard boost which also often gives that perfect pop mid-shift..

I can't wait for mine, but can't say much about the Cobra's as I've never had one, or even heard one in real life..

i have a cobra non-res cat back on my LCR. it sounds good and not too boomy on a cruise tho does get loud when you put your foot down. few pops on decel too which is nice

but i've just bought a resonated cobra cat back to replace it as i just want it a little more subtle (and it'll let me hear the weeeee toosh from the engine more)

might see if i can get a vid together for direct compare
