Divertor or Blow Off

I was told that the 20v Turbo lump doesnt run properly with a blow off valve on, and told a replacement divertor valve was the only way to go, but from what ive been reading on here, and with Forge producing new BOV's, im under the impression that they can run on them??

Help would be appreciated!!

new forge one is just that. NEW!!! it seesm the only person to have one hasn't got a car to put it on.
personally unless you want to sound like a number 10 bus, wait for all the cheap forge 007p that will be appearing in the classifieds real soon.

edit: just visited your website, you want to sound like a bus don't you?

Yes they work! If you want blow-off noise then go for the new Forge SPLIT-R valve, due out any time very soon. If you want the 100% 'by the book' answer then get yourself a Bailey DV30 and a cold-air intake, sounds good and you do get some dump noise, the DV30 is louder than a Forge 007. But despite all the haters, you can run a blow-off if you want, the Forge is your best bet as it has been tested for a year + on the 1.8T engine. Many 1.8T VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT owners have and still do run the Forge 004 and HKS SSQV blow-off valves with no problems whatsoever, I ran the HKS for over a year with no issues at all, switching to the new Forge though as I like the idea of re-circing some air.

very subjective to cars they're installed on.
atmos DV on a MAF equipped car is not ideal as you will be venting air that has been "metered" into the engine. In worst cases the "leak to atmospherer" will **** up the fueling and stalling at junctions and over fueling (smelly cats) often occured - all for the sound of woosh.

you have to ask yourself is this what I want.

in the main, std boost level cars seemed to "get away" with atmos Dv's better than chipped ones.. (which obviously vent more with more boost to vent)

you also get noise from forge dv007p and induction kit.
std valves can fail yes... plastic/rubber bosch affair.
if you car makes noises (flutter type sound) between gear changes, then its knackered.

Excellent thread. I've been giving thought to the question of Whooosh or not.

After reading IbizaCupras excellent diagnosis of metered air/blow off problems.. I've decided to go for the 007p and enjoy what little noise it produces.. but be happy in the knowledge I'm not screwing over my air-fuel mix.

Ta :)

surely unless you change gear and get back on the gas fast then the recirculated air will escape ? no ? and if your pushing the car hard then the recirculating air willget pretty damn warm from going through the turbo not once but twice ? i have a bailey dv installed at the moment and just want to get my head around if there is any difference, does anyone have a fuel/air sensor installed in there car that wouldnt mind doing some tests?

the idea of a resirc is not to send the air back into the turbo but send it back to the maf so it can be measured this tell the maf that no air has been lost.

Incorrect. The recirculated air has already been measured so is sent back to the intake behind the MAF. Venting to atmosphere loses some measured air, if the air is not recirculated then the ECU delivers an incorrect amount of fuel for the amount of air in the system. The ECU also sees an atmospheric valve as a boost leak.
