To be fair, it probably has something to do with the substantial improvement in general refinement that we've seen over the years. We've been spoilt by the lack of noise the car makes in general, so we notice all the little rattles and squeeks that would previously have been drowned out by the incredible racket the rest of the car always made.

Id disagree, road noise in these things is astoundingly bad. Unless you mean Ive been spoiled by previous cars like my 8 year old nissan, my 16 year old BMW or the vauxhall vectra I once bought? The only thing my Leon has spoiled is my enjoyment of owning a car!
It's funny, since first reading this thread I felt my car made absolutely no noise whatsoever, until this morning , I said to myself let's have a listen ! Honestly , it feels like the whole car is losing pieces as im driving, doors falling off, bumpers, etc. it's a Toyota avensis, 16 years old, never heard a noise in it before because it did the job I wanted it to do and never really took any notice. When I get my cupra St in March , I can tell you now there won't be a rattle or squeak of any kind to be heard because I won't be listening out for it and it will do exactly what I want it to do!
The 'ignorance is bliss' approach. Good luck with that, I tried it for a year with the dash rattle, I knew it was there but decided it didnt matter. In the meantime the road noise was getting on my nerves but again, I thought maybe it was the tyres and nothing could be done. I had been told by the dealer that the locking up head unit was normal and that there was no faults. Then when the door cards became too annoying to ignore and the clunk in the boot arrived it began to grate a bit. This coupled with the lights refusing to autolevel two or three times on the bounce made me quite annoyed. Another trip to the dealer where all of the faults remained the same afterwards made me decide that the interior was a bit tat, the design flaws were ridiculous and that ignoring these problems was no longer an option.
But yeah, stick with the 'it'll be ok' option and forget the 30k bill to have the piss taken out of you

I suppose I could have paid an extra €12,000 for the type R and ignored the complaints they were having with their new cars , you described a lot of them in your last post! I decided to keep the money instead.
Im not sure of your point, are you answering by saying 'so what the type R is crap'? Whats that got to do with the SEAT leon being a budget build car?
Villiers, you've clearly had a really bad SEAT experience and it's not what I want to be hearing coming in to ownership.

No I'm not saying the type R is crap, I reckon it's a cracking car altogether and wouldn't take any notice of the guys that couldn't start their new cars! But throwing an extra €12,000 to it I decided to go with the rattly budget build cupra.
Im really sorry if such things bother you. I would have much preferred that before I bought mine and what I say has no bearing on how your car will turn out.

Do your research on any car forum and come back to me when you find a car manufacturer that ticks all the boxes. To save you the bother , you won't find any.
i don't think you'll find everyone else on here telling him it's wonderful.
Some of us WILL, because we're happy and don't have the issues that you have.
Others will highlight their complaints.
That's how a forum works - people share experiences and viewpoints.
Making generalisations implying those with positive experiences are being dishonest is crass at best, insulting at worst.
I'm happy with mine, and I'm also honest.

And you might also take out a dealers stock car for a test drive and see if it makes the same noises. If it doesn't, you can prove it's a fault on yours, and he can fix it.
You are probably correct, I imagine any car can have troubles. Im guessing as a consumer I should never mention it, allow it to continue because its ok? See, I traded in my mk2 that I had no problems with because I liked the Leon so much.

However, their lack of enthusiasm to repair it so far would not lead me to believe that would convince them.
Would be nice if there was some info coming forwards with regards to this clunk that Ive read on here happens to the other VAG cars. Mine took around 16 months to appear.
The fix for the door cards is 'fix it yourself', again a seemingly common problem.
A fix for the headlights is apparently not available, again a lot more than me suffering from this.
The fix for the dash is to 'trap a sponge in the steering column'
It goes on and on
If that's responding to me, I think we've got our wires crossed. I probably didn't word my reply as good as I could have. When I say "that's not what I want to hear" I don't mean your comments, but the news that there are issues. I absolutely want to hear your thoughts, both good and bad. That's why I'm reading this forum and this thread.
Hey, I drove a TVR for 6 years as my only car. I'm clearly already a lost cause.

I meant I was doing several things at once and not concentrating on these posts. Believe it or not Ive come to terms with my cars problems and its on its way in another 3 months. Its a shame because I used to like SEAT, with this being my 5th but theres no way I could live with myself if I ended up with another dog come trade in time!
