Does anyone have a Freetrack?

Looked into tyres myself as need to get some on the front soon as nearly have 29000 on the clock now and they are getting a bit low.

They must be the second set on so 15000 per set of P Zeros isn't to bad ame thinks and there doesn't seem to be much better out there that doesn't cost the earth.

Not to sure about mileage for the backs as they will need doing soon too.

Yeh i really can't fault them,i've had Yokohama's before and they were good too but wore really quickly.These p zero's have a really good rating for anti aquaplaning and their good in the snow too as i found out not so long ago...
Anyway have you had any problems with yours yet?
Mine's just got back from the dealers after havin it's first big service,they had to put some new connectors for the dvd player in the back,they fell into the casing after plugging a wire in lol!
Had a rattle from the nearside dashboard area and they have fitted a new bit of trim which has closed the gap between the rest,and they've tightened a few brackets i think,anyway it's alot better...

No problems other than the emissions light coming on intermittently, but this turned out to be an exhaust temp sensor other than that all ok.

No DPF light on so far also as mainly A and M roads

Having read the section on the Leon TD 170 it seems that you need to keep the revs at over 1900 to keep the DPF clean.

Been scouring the net today looking for 2 front tyres (p zero rosso's).Rang kwik fit in Penzance and they did me a good deal, they were a 98 Y load/speed rating too....they had a slightly different tread pattern than the 94 W ones that came with the car.Took it for a good spin and they're good,balanced spot on too which is rare...
These were still the same assymetrical tread but slightly different....but still the same standard but extra load,ie....225/50/ZR17 98 Y

Part number is:5P8 861 691 and the the construction is like nylon mesh so would be ok for a a dog that doesn't like chewing things!

Not a bad price, how are the back ones wearing? Not sure if mine are orginals or whether they wear as quick as the fronts.

Back ones have about 4/5 mm left.The front ones make it look like i have slicks on the back now.
From what i can gather 17k is good for the front and back on these....going to change the rears in about 3k...

major pickles, you have the bumper protector fitted, is it just plain or freetracked logo? would it be suitable for an altea-xl? or would it look out of place? my rear bumper is getting ruined from my retrievers

The bumper protector is plastic 'chrome',just ribbed and doesn't have freetrack on it.

It does cover the top of the bumper for nearly the full width of the boot opening, but it is very deep as the freetrack rear bumper is a bit large so not sure if it's too wide for the Xl as haven't compared them like for like.

As it's plastic you could cut it down and I will get you a picture as soon as i can.

Does anyone have any instructions for the SEAT 13 pin electrics on the freetrack? As the caravan fridge will no longer power up when connected.

Also anyone installed the extra 3 pins?

Well I've finally done it...have just bought Joe Worsley's sponsored Freetrack from Spur Garage Hampton Court. It's April 2008, Black, 8.5k miles, winter pack & Bluetooth pack. It was up for £13k but paid £12.300. I carefully checked the driver's seat...with 18 stone of Mr. Worsley jumping around on it for a year...but it appeared to be unscathed!!!

Hi I did post this question a little while ago but with little response, but since then I have time to play about with it and refine my opinion of the problem.

We purchased a 57 plate low mileage tdi Freetrack from a dealer a couple of months ago, we test drove it and it drove properly and was very nippy for such a big car. i knew what to expect from the 170 engine as i have a Leon FR Tdi. Not long after we picked it up i noticed a vibration at times which passed as we accelerated through it. I mentioned it to the dealer when it went back to have a couple of minor issues put right. They balanced the wheels and declared they could find nothing wrong. we then did a couple of long journeys involving motorway and sustained high speed journeys. I was able to get the car to 'misbehave' by getting it up to 70 in 5th and then coasting, if I then gently accelerated it would appear to hold back and if you continued to press the accelerator there was a vibration though the drivetrain. If you changed it would shoot forward, so i assumed not a turbo problem. We took it back to the dealer who kept it for a couple of days and they say they tested everything possible but found no problems. the chap whoa ctually sold it to us test drove it and admitted that he could get the car to 'misbehave' in the way i described but that he wasn't sure it was not just the way that model is. I think thats rubbish frankly. they are trying to arrange to 'borrow' another freetrack from another dealer or Seat to compare it. However since then I have noticed a couple of other symptons, the other day the car was full, seats and boot, when driving at a steady speed i gently accelerated, the car did accelerate, but much slower than i would have expected, much more so than just being loaded would explain and the vibration was worse.

Does anyone have any ideas? as I say if I set off and accelerate through the gears its quick and responsive, its when you want to gently accelerate when the car is already at speed. The car feels like it is holding back and there is a vibration, if you change down it shoots forward with no vibration as you would expect. Can anyone with a TDI freetrack confirm theirs is not like this.

Can you give me some specifics and I'll give mine a try this weekend when she will be loaded up...

- What are the revs, speed and gear which you in when you start to accelerate?

I had an acceleration problem with a 51 plate Leon 1.6 petrol - that turned out to be an ECU issue for which there was no fix at the time! Got a another car in the end which developed the issue at 5k miles, and then they had a fix.

Might be a silly one here as you have a 170 FR!

But I had similar but no vibration if I remember just holding back when you tried to accelerate and a bit lumpy like a miss.

Got the emissions light on sometimes then it would reset for the next trip, turned out to be a faulty exhaust sensor causing the DPF to regen nearly every trip.

I collected my Freetrack on Monday from Spur Garege, Hampton Court.
Tuesday morning I decided to configure the built-in Bluetooth...on closer examination it was evident that Bluetooth was not fitted to the car as advertised by the dealer.
Phoned the dealer who confirmed that it was not fitted to the car - it seems that their website guy had added it to the listed spec. by mistake!
Bluetooth really was one of the options that was on my wishlist...so I was a little bit 'upset' to say the least. The Sales Manager readily agreed to two options, either he would source a car of similar spec. (but with Bluetooth) or pay for an aftermarket add-on.
After searching the internet I found the new Bury 9060 - which gets terrific reviews, and offers loads of features which are not available on standard kits or indeed some integrated units.
The Sales Manager called me back with the details of another Freetrack (should I want to exchange it) and agreed to pay in full for the supply & installation of the Bury (at £220). I opted for the Bury install which was best allround for us both.
I'm really impressed by Spur Garage's attitude and prompt dealing of a problem that a lot of Dealers would have 'swept under the carpet' until it went away!

Good to see a positive dealer who wants to to keep you happy post sale.

I have BT on mine which I think adds a few extra features as the display is larger, but it has enough functions for me.

Do you get a convenience setting on a Freetrack without BT (coming home settings etc)?
