So Millers isn't burned and re-enters into the inlet mani from egr, thus cleaning both?

My vac pipe to egr is blanked off - waste of time and money?

Millers doesn't claim that their fuel treatment cleans the inlet manifold. Can you provide a link to the place you got this advice from, or is it just a street rumour?

The main gain I get from Millers is improved fuel economy, 3 to 4 more miles to each gallon. I think it raises combustion temperatures and so helps reduce carbon formation in the turbo, but not sure.

The best treatment for inlet manifolds is to blank off the EGR and redirect the PCV outlet into a catch can.

Where do you get that from? Just stick to shell or bp and drive it like you stole it, it keeps it cleaner than any additives.

Link to talkford forum. I did a Google search to see what others have experienced so I know what to look out for. They were saying it's not burnt in the combustion chamber so it re-enters from exhaust into mani and cleans it.

No Shell or BP in Ireland! Seemed to have been years ago but they seem to have been bought out by Topaz

Link provided in my previous reply to Seatmann

Or maybe to put a simple vent like so http://www.ebay.ie/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=crankcase+vent

on the PCV pipe and blank the TIP where the PCV attaches to it?

Well, its a Ford forum so the acronym Fix Or Repair Daily might apply.

The poster "MEG Admiral" writes "I'm assuming the BG244 isn't burnt off in the combustion chamber, it exits into the egr system and hence back into the intake manifold. " - so he/she is guessing, and is talking about BG244, whatever that is.

The site I found for BG244 claims that it cleans inlet components. This is utter bullshit and impossible for a fuel additive. Therefore I would avoid BG244 and any associated products like the plague.

Any fuel treatment is completely burned in the cylinder. If it wasn't it would add to the carbon fouling, not clean it up.

Fit a catch can to the PCV outlet, there are plenty of threads on this forum about them. Certainly blank the intake duct where the PCV used to fit.

sorry to invade your thread and go off your topic darrenj but wots the purpose of blanking off the egr?

Because the exhaust gas from the egr and oil from the ccv get together and make a nice sticky goo that clogs up the intake.

Hello....just a friendly hijacker here......is that 6mm silicone hose into the the top of the airbox anything to with the EGR then??

Jimski

Maybe, I can't remember off hand but there's usually another solonoid valve like the N75 on the bulk head to do the egr but some of the newer cars have this stupid all in one box that has both.

No, there are two 6mm hoses fron the black control box that relate to egr. One goes into the top of the egr valve that controls egr function and one goes into a plastic bit at the back of the valve that controls the asv. I think they're numbered 2 and 6 off the top of my head

Any advantage in fitting a narrower gauge pipe off n75 in tdi's like they recommend for the 1.8T's?
