Hi Guy's,

I fitted my Powerlex DBM today but I think I have made a boo boo!

I have torqued the 'clamp' bolt to 40Nm, which I think is too much as the vibrations through the car are bad, liveable maybe, but bad!

The good thing is that the traction is a 125% better!:D

What I need an answer for is the correct torque setting for the clamp and if loosening it by a great deal will ruin the traction I now have. Hopefully there will be a happy median.

Remember its the clamp torque amount none of the others.
 
Just see if it dies down, i think my vibration was a visible steering wheel wibble, and a low freq hum with some transferring into the seat!!

wouldnt worry to much about the torque setting as the vibrations will stop after a few miles of bedding in. they will slowly go away
 
This is the whole point of them though, the stiffer the better? More traction, less wheel spin, i couldnt believe the difference it made, once you've done some miles, you wont even tell you've got it on.

OEM mounts are made of playdoh compared to these babies, and for £15 they are pretty evenly priced i think!!

Yes, stiffer is definately better - but poly bushes are not really very good as they transmit harsh vibrations. A very stiff rubber mount will have all the good properties you are after (reduced movement) but without transmitting the vibrations. Poly bushes are really just a cheap way of stiffening up bushes but they are quite crude. I'd prefer to pay a little more for some good quality rubber. Take a look in the INA thread they're very good products.

I dont want to start a war on the 'VIBRATIONS' so i'll put this thread to bed now.

All i wanted to know what the correct torque setting was for the 'clamp', which now I know is 20Nm.
