If they couldn't pay the rent last year, surely paying contracters to do all this work is just a dream.

They'd lose no revenue in reality. What they lose from UK ticket sales, they would gain from the new/replacement venue/country ticket sales. The location is of no consiquence, as 10's of thousands will still attend, wherever the venue.
Mr Ecclestone, for all his faults, and critisisms made about him is a business man, and a very successful one, and whatever deal he strikes, in whatever country, will only be of benefit to F1 as a business. The only losers will be British Fans and Businesses.
what gets me is Ferrari get more money as they are a long term team..
why does silverstone get so little out of the sport>? people think they make loads, but they have to pay something like 18million to stage the event, then there is running costs, so they end up doing well to break even.
